Sooner fan really looking forward to the game

Heh, I thought more of Oklahoma fans. This fella is making it hard not to throw them on the pile with Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Mizzou fans.

But hey, he doesn't represent them any more than, say, D4H represents us. Still giving those guys a chance.

Go Vols!
I mean they’re better than Florida, Bama and Georgia fans. Seems Texas fans are insufferable as well. Texas AM is just weird AF not sure what to make of them; they are mostly nice but you know they have some heads in their freezer.

I, too, remember the heady days of the 1970s and 1980s! When Nebraska and Oklahoma would beat Kansas and whoever else by a combined score of about 150-0, on their way to the annual coin toss for Big 8 bragging rights. Meanwhile during the same time span a majority of the SEC claimed at least a share of a conference title, although some had to vacate later (looking at you, Florida).

Welcome to the SEC, OP! I seriously believe you can win a conference title here at some point. I just also believe a bunch of other teams will first.

Josh won an NC for OU but got snuffed on the heisman. How many of heismans' have been delivered to Norman since he graduated? We'll be OK at QB, don't worry.

Heisman is a joke most years anyways. How many Heisman winners busts in the bowl game later that year and then the NFL? Too many to count. One issue with Heisman is that it is awarded too early. It shouldn't go out until Mid-January after ALL GAMES are played.

It is getting more accurate and with realignment, teams cannot hide behind patty cake schedules anymore (cough* USC Trojans cough*). USC had the most FAKE Heisman winners because they would run up stats against crappy Pac10 teams (yes going back to that era) and then when they played a B1G or SEC defense, they wouldn't look good. Even in 2005, Vince Young showed he should have been the Heisman winner over Reggie Bush in that title game (although Bush is one of the better winners).

Jason White was a joke winner for Oklahoma as an example. Guy was pretty pedestrian and flopped in the NFL. Eric Crouch from Nebraska was another. Neither deserved the Heisman.

Had a hella time in Knoxville a couple of years ago. Got to see the stadium - awesome. As our initial SEC contest nears, just want to put the two teams in perspective.

UT OU
NC's (Claimed) 6 7
Conf. Championships 16 50
Head-to-head (W/L) 1 3
Heisman trophy 0 7
N/C games since 2000 2 4
Consensus AA Players 41 82

See ya' in Norman, guys.
You forgot one
Real games played the last 50 years
UT OU
500 75
Welcome to the conference where you have to play more that 1 or 2 games a year.

While I do agree that the SEC is > Big12, the Big12 isn't a slouch.

Big12 teams beat SEC teams regularly

Texas Tech has done well against the SEC beating Ole Miss when they had Eli Manning 2x and beating Arkansas often
Oklahoma State beat Georgia pretty bad (Colorado did as well when they were in the Big12)
Nebraska used to beat up on SEC teams (1995 Florida, 1997 Tennessee, 1999 Tennessee)

Oklahoma State, TCU, Kansas State, and Baylor have all had decent squads the last 15 years. Oklahoma State has even been better than Tennessee over that span.

Well, I'm not a fan of the transfer portal. That said, I don't think Oklahoma misstepped or did anything wrong in the case of the three Tennessee football players that transferred to Oklahoma.

Nor do I think that Tennessee did wrong when some players transferred from Oklahoma's softball team to Tennessee.
I do not think OU did anything wrong either. The ncaa is to blame. They should punish the players that break the rules, and it seems they never do. The “they are just kids” argument is bull spit. Had the three in question stayed at ut they would have been ineligible. They transferred to ou and got a clean slate. At least they had the decency to transfer out of conference unlike bama Henry.

Actually, I've driven across a lot of state highways and I think Oklahoma is about average. There are some things I'd like to see improved -- but it's the "more lanes needed between Norman and Oklahoma City" or "remove the tolls between Oklahoma City and Tulsa" rather than road repair that would top my list for Oklahoma highways.

The state that I think is probably behind others in highway health is Colorado. Granted, they probably have to repair the roads more often with the constant ice-melt-ice cycle, but their roads are noticeably worse than average.

You shouldn’t be looking forward to the game.

Bragging about your success in the minor leagues is pretty funny though!

Wow, you guys are tough. I've always had a soft spot for the Vols and certainly since Heuple hired on. Mainly used to dealing with cults at TA&M and the elitists (trophy-less) in Austin. You guys thus far win the ad hominem attack title hands down. Carry on.
I’m late to the game but let me just say…..

“You ain’t seen nothin’ yet”

Good luck. Welcome to what we used to call the SEC. Also, I hope you lose every game except when you play Bama & Florida. But if you lose those, meh, doesn’t matter. You don’t belong here anyway. Oh yeah, thanks for bringing us “Horns down”. I’ve been so excited to use that. Can’t wait!

How about head to head? Last 50 years… Tenn vs Big 12 in bowl games? 1-3 How about vs OU? 1-3.

I visited and toured Neyland circa 2009. There had been a renovation on one side. Got to go down to dressing room and like the middle of the end zone entrance. The venue with the river is special. Knoxville is probably the best college town in the SEC.

Should be a good game and evenly matched come Sept. We were all shocked when Bob Stoops fired Josh and to this day the only OC he ever fired. Josh expected to replace Bob. I thought it was unwarranted. Bob never fired coaches. I expect Josh to have extra motivation to beat OU. It’s going to be a lot tougher game than OU fans think. They don’t fear Tenn much because of your poor success against us.

As others have mentioned we’ve got some unknowns. We have an entire OL to replace and inexperienced QB not a great recipe. Luckily we have the best OL coach in CF. Not even debatable. The SEC will be much tougher than the Big 12. ESPN has you #14 & OU #17. AP Tenn #15 OU#16. Right now we are favored only because we are home.

I don’t know enough about your OL coach to debate your proclamation, but the fact I’ve never heard of him casts doubt on its indisputable nature. 😏 Arguing over a 50 year block of time with its ever shifting schemes, coaches and circumstances is its own waste of time…feel free to indulge. On this board, we’ve witnessed what DOESN’T work and you were most likely around in the doldrums years post Switzer. You want your program graded based on the contributions of Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger and John Blake? Looking forward to the scene in Norman…enjoyed it in 2014 despite the score of the game and Justin Worley treading water.

"Arguing over a 50 year block of time....." in the civilized world of the King's English is normally referred to as discussing history.

History is just that, history. It has no bearing on the present. Your old conference is history. Your record in that pathetic conference is history. You’re starting fresh in the most dominant conference in history so no one in the SEC gives two damns about what your team has accomplished in a weak pathetic little 12 or 8. Y’all won’t win 50 conference championships in the SEC in the next 500 years. You arrogant Sooners are about find out.

Guyton BTW projected LT starter at Dallas as a rookie. Anton Harrison a rookie starter at tackle for the Jags last year.
