Sooner fan really looking forward to the game

Missouri may not have beaten you 36-10 last year, but Kansas wouldn’t have beaten us at all.

to suggest that Venables will outperform 55-10 as if it’s a surething is absolutely asinine. Lol. I’ll bet you anything you want that he doesn’t. Jeff Lebby was the best coach on your staff last year. Not Venables.
Venables is building a much tougher culture and if you look at Clemson ever since he left you’ll see what a ridiculous uninformed statement that is on Lebby being our best coach. He was a good coach but #3 behind Brent and Bedenbaugh. Brent has finally got our defense back to top 10 (this year) . Riley can not sniff a defense if you pay even an ounce of attention. This year OU finally busts through.

Nico is very good. Heupel not surprisingly to me has become a great coach. I was stunned when Bob Stoops fired him. He won him a NC. Only OC Bob ever fired in his career. And you are right the OL is a huge question mark despite Bedenbaugh being the #1 OL coach. It’s a huge question mark. Arnold like Nico a 5 star QB recruit but surrounding cast is important. With Tenn just slightly ranked above OU in all polls but OU favored it could very well be the best game of the season in the SEC. Stoops says the last time OU fielded this good of a defense we played in the NC. Gonna have to be. The SEC will be tough. There’s a lot of 50/50 games according to the ESPN FPI. If I thought our OL was going to be solid I’d say the CFP a cinch. But it’s an unknown. The receiver corp best since our CFP team that lost to UGA in OT. Very good running backs. I’m predicting an 8-4 season because of the OL. If somehow Bedenbaugh works his magic better.
Your insistence that your OL coach is number 1 is hilarious.

The fact that you think the playoffs would be a cinch if your OL pans out… also hilarious.

You don’t know it yet, but you have a better chance of losing to Auburn than you do of making the playoffs.

7-5 would be something to build off of for you guys, who currently sitting 4th in the SEC among former Big12 teams in roster talent.

8-4, which you predicted in this thread, is not “busting through.”

I’d rather have playoff appearances without a defense than a strong culture that falls short.

24/7 rates our roster #8. Facts don’t lie. Our OL coach has the most NFL players he’s coached in the NFL currently. Facts are important to bring to the discussion.

Awesome showing one starter on DL from Tenn in the NFL Shy Tuttle. OU has 7 OL starters better get that DL ready cool
Well we’re about to have 5-6 DL drafted next year, so there’s that.

I don’t think you get it. You’re best O-lineman over the last couple of years are in the NFL, our best DL guys are stil on campus.

Great that you’re producing talent. Can’t explain why, but a lot of ours wanted to stay for their final year of eligibility.

Your coach has been at a good program for over a decade, ours has been at a good program for 3 years. Context is important to bring to the discussion.

24/7’s roster ratings are based on what kids were rated on 24/7 out of high school.

Must be 7th rounders PFF doesn’t rank your DL in their top 10 for 2024.

8-4 with poor OL 10-2 with a decent one. But at least we’ve been this century and this decade.
Well we’ll see who’s right at the end of he season. I say 6-6 with a poor OL, 7-5 with a decent one, 8-4 with a good one, 9-3 with a great one, there’s not a snowball’s chance y’all go 10-2.

It’s not your fault, you haven’t experienced a season yet in the SEC. You have 8 teams on your schedule that would’ve beaten Kansas last year. And you lost. Buckle up butter cup.

Context is I don’t care where he’s coached you can include UCF Missouri. Bedenbaugh produced a rookie starter the last 2 years. He’s got 2 rated #1 in the NFL at their position.

I can see your overstated opinion of the SEC with your poor success for so long. I mean how many coaches this century? Heck 3 in the last 8. You go through coaches like popcorn. More if you count what Schiano and Leach the same day 🤪🤷‍♂️🤣

At OKLAHOMA. Get back to me when that equals scrapping together three stars at Mizzou and UCF into productive position groups. And he took a disastrous OL at UT and made it beyond productive with sanctions and negative recruiting as a backdrop. Apples to pears.

Coaches don’t use PFF, you shouldn’t either. James Pearce is the highest ranked DL in America by anyone who knows anything. Unless you’re not counting edge rushers, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t.

And those two don’t play at Oklahoma anymore. Go stroke yourself about your OL coach on another board. Your arrogance is unfounded lol

Yes they do. Zac Robinson the new OC for the Falcons I know worked there. He’s a friend.

Serious question.. how have you ranked your defense in the top 10 this season before its began? (I don’t even see that backed up by 24/7 espn etc projections)

Paper don’t mean much- ask FSU

Will be fun to see how this all shakes out in Norman. 😉

Obviously I’m predicting it. Just like another poster said you’d have 5-6 DL drafted yet you aren’t sniffing PFF’s top 10 DL’s.

Looks like OU has zero preseason all sec offensive lineman. We have 1. Also, looks like OU has zero defensive lineman. We have 1.

I've noticed the Tennessee faithful put a lot of significance on the Oklahoma/Kansas game last year. No doubt about it -- that 2023 OU/KU game stunk as much as that 2023 Tenneesee/Florida game. OU had no business losing to Kansas, just like 2023 Tennessee had no business losing to Florida. So which loss was worse?

Kansas was a 9-win team that won a bowl game. The jayhawks benefitted from inclement weather, an 11 to 5 advantage in penalties, and some fortunate bounces on fumbles. The Sooners found it hard to pass in the rain, and they couldn't rush as well as they needed to.

I didn't watch the Tennessee/Florida game, but I see that the gators finished 5-7 in 2023.

Perhaps the Kansas loss was worse than the Tennessee/Florida loss, but I wouldn't count on a similar situation for our game on Sept 21st. Our RB corp should be in better health, but more importantly I think our defense has more depth and will be much better than last year.

I think what we are trying to tell you is that if Kansas played in the sec they would not have won 8 regular season games. Conversely, if Florida played your schedule last year they would have won 8 games.

Welcome to the sec

Cool. What did 247 rate Tennessee's DB and LB?

Here's how Phil Steele rated Tennessee and Oklahoma defenses:

OU......DL 11....LB 1.....DB 1
Tenn....DL 3.....LB 13....DB 14
