Deadspin had the official letter up on their site. Hadn't really read it but holy crap we dodged a bullet by firing this guy. One of the largest takeaways is where was the due diligence from the search from or from Dave Harts office? Seriously? After the Bruce pearl debacle, we should be turning over every stone when hiring a coach. How did nothing come up given the amount of dirt the NCAA has dug up? Unbelievable

Everything I've heard/read said there was no way at the time Hart could have known because other than Tyndall and his cohorts, no one knew.
Folks I'm not out for Dave Hart's head or anything but he totally screwed up the Tyndall hiring. Tyndall was Previously an assistant at LSU under John Brady and rumors were everywhere that that Brady was as dirty as it comes-- that on top of what happened at Morehead State. Tyndall had a rotten reputation among fellow coaches and if Hart didn't know it then he didn't know where to look or whom to talk too.
Where do you get Tyndall had a rotten reputation among fellow coaches?
In one of the articles, there were many so I don't recall which, it was said Hart may have vetted, but it was all USM people, had he had the time a normal search would've and a proper vetting would've taken place, that he (Hart) would've spoken with AAU coaches, handlers, and coaches he recruited against and he would've found a whole lot out about Tyndall's rep.
No sympathy here for people piling on Tyndall.I don't remember ever reading anything about Tyndall like that until after the investigation was under way. Then all of the sudden people have 20/20 hindsight and expect Hart to know that Tyndall was dirty. Any coach that gets caught doing something like this all of the sudden will have people willing to talk bad about him after the fact. Typical trademark of today's society. Pile on someone when they are down.
I do remember a radio interview I heard that said the southern miss stuff was in the rumor mill by the end of the AAU season last summer. It wasn't floating around when we hired Tyndall. In fact, the whole thing started iirc when a scorned assistant flipped on Tyndall when he wasn't hired here by Tyndall.
There's no way to prove this but I would guess many coaches have skeletons in their closet they don't want unearthed.
Now, having said all that, it's obvious now that we hired the wrong guy. Hart bounced back with a credible hire. Personally, I would've liked to see us go a different route but I'm also not blind to the fact that we desperately needed the stability that Barnes brings.

The guy still isn't man enough to own up to his deceit.
Still playing the I didn't know card.
How does he explain calling kids on burner phones and getting them to lie for him.
Total **** bag.
Wonder if he's still pushing the 'man of faith' image?

My initial thought was it was Jason King who said this, the same guy who broke the story and said he had been working on it for months.
