I disagree. The test was supposed to be a random sampling with sealed results. I don't think he ever dreamed that he would be found out.
i respect the fact that he manned up and admitted he was wrong. but he still only did this to a degree. he told gammons that he only used from 01' to '03 and yet could not clearly identify what it was he was taking. it was also reported that he was stacking the drugs. now i do not buy for one second that over a three year period he has no idea of what he was taking. he had to know in order to stack the roids to get his desired results. these guys know exactly what they have in their system. i have been around guys who have used roids and they are very knowledgable as to the process. it is hard to believe that anyone who is using has no clue what they are doing. so to an extent he is still being very evasive, and probably for legal reasons. i am interested to find out who else is on the list.
Or the Clemens route and hang your wife out to dry and drag everyone you have ever known through steaming piles of **** in order to save your sorry 'roided up *** when no one in America believes a word you say.
but he already tested positive for it. it didnt matter if he admited or denied it at this point. if u test positve then u took it. or u could take the "i dunno i thoguth it was a fllu shot but for somereason he stuck it in my ass" route
i see what your saying, but i apreciate the fact he didn't dance around the issue. he still could have said that he thought it was a flu shot or some other crap to deny, deny, deny. but he admitted it after he was caught even if it did not matter. he took the pettitte route and hopefully can still right the ship. even though he got caught it is still good that he admitted he was wrong imo. but there are still an awful lot of holes in his admission.
A Rod has had a great year, from Torre's book to having to admit at least some of his steroid use to getting busted sleeping with a 50 year old woman and writing some huge checks to an ex-wife. I am sure his Yankee teammates are providing lots of support though.
Here's what I think.
A-Rod took the high road on the apology, and for that, I wish more players on steroids would follow. However, now those years are tainted, and as a former Rangers fan during that era, I would look at him with suspicion.
For the HOF voter, here's what ya do. Take those 3 years(2001, 2002, 2003) off of the books, and if his numbers are HOF material, vote him in. If not, keep him out. Fairest way I know for both the voters and A-Rod.
seems like the date (in 2003) of this test coincides with the end of when he said he did it (2001-2003). i wonder if he knew he had an enlightenment after giving his random, or if he's lying about that too.
i agree with a lot of what your saying here. if they erased the years that "he says" he was using than he still would have the numbers and especially if he plays for another 9 years or so. but how do we guage the benifits of his usage to his numbers after he supposedly stopped? do we just take his word for it and let it go? that is hard for me to do especially when he will more than likely be the homerun champ when it is all said and done. it would have been a lot easier of a fix if he wasn't who he is and if his numbers were no where near what they are. real sticky situation. i am on the fence.
Here's a question I've always wondered.
If after 1998, Mark McGwire admits he's a steroid user, while still in his playing career, does he get into the HOF, this year or next?
