Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

I'm not sure I love the Force Awakens. It's not as fun as the old trilogy. Too much of an action movie, not an adventure story. I think of it like the Dark Knight. Was a huge hit. Enjoyed seeing it, and it got great reviews. But the Dark Knight isn't all that rewatchable like an Indiana Jones or Episodes 4 through 6.

I just got in from seeing it again this evening and I think I caught something that hasn't been mentioned or I haven't seen it talked about!

In the scene where Rey is being interrogated by Ren and he is reading her mind he says something like "You dream of a vast ocean and an island, I can see it too!"

So she is has been dreaming of where Luke has been?!

I broke down and decided to watch E1 with my kids. It donned on me that there is a 3rd black character FIn could be decended from, Amidala's no name security General.

Also noticed a character from the clone wars, bounty hunter Aurra Sing, watching the Pod Race. It was kinda cool to spot her.

Sounds pretty similar to what is seen at the end of the film.

I think it may have been mentioned, but I noticed that too upon further viewings. That has to be what he saw in her mind.

My wife made an interesting observation about TFA that I never thought about before. She said "I notice that people sweat in this movie. I've never seen Star Wars characters actually sweat before." After thinking about it, she's right! Especially in the prequels. Even when fighting each other on the lava planet Mustafar, Anakin and Obi Wan never once seamed to break a sweat. They should've been drenched after that fight. It was yet another little detail that IMO made TFA seem grittier, more real.

Bruh I'm not trying to correct you and your wife but....

Star Wars is a family affair. It's all about the Skywalkers. The whole way that Anakin/Luke's lightsaber 'called' out to her. They're pointing to Rey bring Luke's daughter.

In the books (that aren't considered canon but they've clearly borrowed ideas from) Han and Leia had a set of twins, Jacen and Jania. Both were trained as Jedi. Jacen turned to the dark side and was eventually killed by his sister. Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) is clearly Jacen Solo. Rey will likely be either his sister or cousin.

I thought this as well, slight spoilers for the EU and one line about a crazy fan theory that would be awesome if true.

The only real difference between Ben/Jacen is we got to see Jacen go from good to evil similar to Anakin (only with actually good reasons and storytelling) and we also see 100% that he is one of, if not the most powerful Force conduit ever with what he does in the Yuuzhong Vong War.

I think what we've seen of Kylo Ren so far is insane. He stops a blaster mid air for an extended period of time with no stress on his body while doing it. He takes Chewie's clearly showed off multiple times to prove its OP bowcaster to the stomach and doesn't even get knocked back, and then kicks one of the best stormtrooper's in his army's ass followed by one of the more powerful good force user's in the universe as well up until he literally tells her how to beat him.

And all of this is before we find out he never even finished training. I wouldn't be shocked one bit if he comes back as strong as Anakin would've been if he hadn't lost 80% of his body. Especially if the crazy fan theories are truly and Snoke is actually Plagueis, which I think would be pretty awesome in it's own right.

I noticed this on the first time through when you could see the island in the ocean as her and Chewie were landing. I looked at my buddies and went "Dude, she was dreaming about this since the start of the movie. ABRAM'S FORESHADOW." We were kinda tipsy seeing this movie too, so that didn't hurt our childlike wonder.

Are you talking about Finn?

Hes not no-named. His name is Captain Panaka. He was replaced in Attack of rhe Clones by Captain Typho, the black actor with the eye patch (supposedly because he wanted too much money).

Actually I read it was because they wouldn't let him read the script in advance for AOTC.

Kylo and Rey will soon be fully trained, and they'll have an epic battle in episode 9.

What I would like seeing is not just Kylo vs. Rey but also Snoke vs. Luke

Saw this earlier today.

It was as great movie. I liked it and would probably go with a friend if they hadn't seen it.

But we all saw this movie the first time it was called Star Wars and it was made in 1977. They took the easy way out probably since the last trilogy was so disappointing. The Force Awakens is almost a copy of the original. I haven't read any of this thread so I'm sure this isn't the first time it's been said.

The desert planet Tatooine has been replaced by the desert planet Jakku. New Luke Skywalker is a younger girl. There's a loveable droid everyone is looking for that has information for the Rebel Alliance. New Han Solo is a young black guy. Darth Vader isn't quite Darth Vader just yet, all he has to do is fully commit to the Dark Side. The Death Star is now about 100 times larger and is an actual planet, but still has a super weapon that destroys other planets. And once again it's a race to destroy "The Death Star" by going inside and blowing up a certain section as it's super weapon is being readied to fire.

Not so much a criticism. I knew there would be similarities and throwbacks to the original. I just didn't know it would be most of the movie.

I was thinking about this on the way home. I'd bet his lack of complete commitment to the dark side will be his perceived weakness and the reason for not being able to force Ray to give him the map images from her head or beat her in combat.

I did not like the black dude, I thought he was completely out of place. the battle with that black dude and the jedi should have lasted about 15 sec. the jedi could have picked him and thrown him a couple of times against a tree.

I was wondering a little if Fin would turn out to be somewhat strong in the force as well.

I seriously doubt it. Also some other bad news for Fin, with that kiss from Rey on the forehead at the end, he has officially been moved into the "friend zone." Any hopes he may have had at romance with Rey was killed in that one scene!

Yeah I'm not sure Finn is even a halfway decent stormtrooper.

He was in sanitation. I doubt that's where the best get placed.

I know he had a name I just couldn't remember it and didn't feel it worth looking up LOL.
