If he was the dark lord of the Sith he could've easily put on a 'mind trick' to throw the Jedi off. Palpatine was literally right under their nose and they weren't aware of him. And it's not just the "really high jumps". It's a combination of many things that on their own would mean nothing. Why would the Jedi take a bumbling idiot, who was exiled from his own people supposedly for being a huge klutz, on their off world trek across Tatooine. That's a huge risk that two trained Jedi wouldn't have taken. Add to it a character that literally shares the same name from a book that helped to inspire Lucas was a bumbling idiot who was exiled for not having any magic but further in the book you find out that he does in fact have magic it just acts in an accidental sort of way no one had ever seen before.
Oh and also Palpatine and Jar Jar were also from the same planet, which is the Star Wars equivalent to being next door neighbors. Which doesn't really add much but they, at the very least, likely knew each other.
People thinking Jar Jar is a sith, let a lone a a force user, is like people thinking 9/11 was an inside job. No one should have to counter such a dumb theory. Some idiot tried to convince me of this in the grocery store and I wanted to punch him.
Agreed. It's pretty obvious that Lucas checked out on anything that nuanced in the plot lines of Episodes 1-3. The characters were just silly. In the original trilogy Lucas was concerned the cantina characters, among others, would look silly and cartoonish. But this was a budget issue. Then, when budget isn't the issue, he introduces JJB. He should be kicked in the nuts.
I hope they let Abrams remake episodes 1-3.
My wife made an interesting observation about TFA that I never thought about before. She said "I notice that people sweat in this movie. I've never seen Star Wars characters actually sweat before." After thinking about it, she's right! Especially in the prequels. Even when fighting each other on the lava planet Mustafar, Anakin and Obi Wan never once seamed to break a sweat. They should've been drenched after that fight. It was yet another little detail that IMO made TFA seem grittier, more real.
It's about $20 million shy of Avatar's domestic record and should soon move past Furious 7 and Avengers for the 4th spot all-time behind Avatar, Titanic, and Jurassic World.
Not bad for 17 days.
