Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

Yeah, he is bratty, but I think his acting skills surpass Hamill and Hayden's, so his cry baby attitude was at least more believable lol he's great in Girls (if you can tolerate Lena Dunham).

Yeah, Maul could have been a true badass villain. Maybe if Kylo hadn't shown his face so soon, it would have been better for people?

Driver is a good actor, though he's a bit typecast at the moment as the "cool, laid back hipster type". His last 2 movies I saw, "This is Where I Leave You" and "While We're Young" that was the type of character he played.

Of course, HC was pretty good before AOTC. He was great in Life as a House, even got nominated for a Golden Globe for Supporting Actor for it, and he was pretty good in Shattered Glass. The prequels killed his career to an extent. Well, and it didn't help Jumper was terrible too.

When it came to the flow, plot (to a limited extent) and action, ROTS was the best of the saga IMO. Bad acting/dialog took it way down for me. I've always wondered how others would have thought of Ep III with a different Anakin and I often wonder WTF was Lucas thinking when HC was cast in Ep II and beyond.

As the old saying goes "you only had one job..." and didn't come through on the prequels.

Driver has been the same character a lot. I like him though.

Life as a House is the best thing I've seen HC do. I watched a movie called Outcast with him and Nicolas Cage a while back that was TERRIBLE.

Honestly I don't think it mattered much who was cast. Ewan McGregor was as perfect as a choice for a young Obi-Wan and thanks to the crappy writing, even he couldn't do much with it.

When the complaints are about pretty much every actor being wooden, and you had that many Oscar and Golden Globe nominees and winners, I think it's pretty clear where the problem was.

Yeah, as I said, the prequels ruined what career he had; I'm sure he got paid well but I bet he wonders if he would have been better off not doing them. Though from accounts I've read he's very nice with SW fans and doesn't mind signing things and talking about it. As opposed to Jake Lloyd who curses every day that he took that role.

Speaking of acting, I was impressed with it in this film. The chemistry, the lines, everything.

Well, I think Oscar Issac has been pretty much awesome in everything I've seen him in. I think that guy will win a few Oscars; which I still don't get how he wasn't nominated for Inside Llewyn Davis.

Ridley and Boyega were superb, as inexperienced as they were.

That's good. I figured he'd be pissy about it. He's Canadian though. They're polite people. Jake Lloyd is a strange dude...

I have a feeling that Hayden will get an opportunity to redeem himself. With all the anthology movies being made with timelines between the regular episodes, you have to think Vader will be in at least some of them. I could see bringing him back at some point.

The wife and I just watched the original Star Wars Trilogy, she needed a refresher before I take her to see The Force Awakens. In lieu of this, I have made my official final ranking:

1. Empire Strikes Back
2. The Force Awakens
3. A New Hope
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. Return of the Jedi
6. Attack of the Clones
7. The Phantom Menace

Sorry everyone...... the Ewoks are just unforgivable. There's nothing that cheesy in RotS. That's the deal breaker.

"Don't make me KILL yooouuu!" And "Anakin, you're breaking my heart" and "Nooooooooo!" are unforgivable lol but our list is similar except flip Sith and Jedi and Clones and Phantom.

Young Anakin ruins Phantom for me. His "accidental" blowing up of the Trade Federation is the only scene in the Star Wars movies I literally can not watch.

Lol yeah they should have just started him as a teen instead of trying to appeal to 8 year olds. It was jarring to see him all of sudden 18 or 19. They could have trained him earlier and got all of that out of the way so they could flesh out his turn to the dark side better in Sith. It felt rushed when he just says okey dokey to Palpatine then kills some kids. Kylo showed a better struggle between light and dark in his scene with Han.

Jar Jar Binks can't stay out of rehab.

That certainly has provided a plethora of great memes though.

Loved the new movie. Thought it actually felt like star wars in tone and the way it was shot, unlike ep 1-3.

My rankings:

ROTJ
FA
ESB
ROTS
ANH
AOTC
PM

Also, I found the anti-cheese versions of episodes 1-3 on YouTube. Some guy took the time to personally trim out the horrible cheesy nonsense and piece the movie back so it still makes sense. It made those movies much more enjoyable.

I've gone through stages with Ewoks.

I was 6 years old when Jedi hit the theatre. As a kid I loved them. My grandmother even made an Ewoks costume for me for Halloween.

As a teenager/young adult I hated them. Especially once I heard the original plan was to make them Wookies.

As an adult/father I've come to accept them. They aren't nearly as bad as Jar Jar. Having watched RotJ just recently with my kids it occurred to me that one of the main problems is they move like little people in cumbersome suits. If they had used some puppetry or had the ability to CG a little more agility in their movement they could have been pretty cool actually.

The Anti-Cheese versions are the only versions I watch now.

Are you talking about Finn?

Yeah I'm not sure Finn is even a halfway decent stormtrooper.

Read the information that Abrams approved to be written about the movie back story. Finn is actually at the top of his class and is one of the best tacticians they have. Phasma expects great things of him and the only thing she sees bad about him is the fact he cares too much about his friends
