Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

Did he start that petition?

I don't think Lucas wants to be involved. He readily admits he had a hard time letting others direct Empire and Jedi without standing over their shoulder every step of the way.

I think he wants the movies to live on but didn't have his heart in overseeing another 7-8 year project. It was all or nothing so he made a clean break.

There's zero chance he would come to wrap up a story others were telling anyway.

Besides that, why the hell would anyone want this? Did they not see the prequels?

Only because the Sith chose not to kill him. In fact he may have thought he did with the strike on the back, or assumed he would have died.

Even still, saying he was the best stormtrooper is a huge stretch.

Never said he was the best. Said he was at the top of his class (true according to Before the Awakening) and said Phasma expected great things of him (Also true according to the source material)

Your original comment was that he was "one of the best". I still don't think he's shown he's one of the best.

Saw it tonight for a second time, most people told me it's even better the second time around. I have to agree, you definitely gain a new appreciation of the film when you aren't wondering what's coming next, and instead just enjoying the ride.

Basically, see it at least twice in theaters. Worth it both times.

SIAP but did anyone notice that Finn's stormtrooper number FN-2187 had Leia's cell number on the original Death Star...2187? I didn't either...read it on Yahoo. :)

Perhaps it's been mentioned already in the 1,500 odd posts, but was there ever an explanation as to why Kylo Ren's lightsaber looks all ragged?

Per the expanded universe these types of light sabers have been constructed previously, thousands of star ways years previously from the time which TFA takes place. What makes it look "ragged" is the cracked kyber crystal used in its construction. Whereas the light sabers we are used to seeing are constructed from a kyber crystal that is not cracked.

This is absolutely true! The first time I watched it was in 3D and it was more like a thrill ride than watching a movie. My mind was experiencing sensory overload the whole time, not only because of the 3D but because of the sights and sounds of the film. The second time I saw it was in 2D and I was able to focus more on the story, the performances, just lots little things I didn't pick up on the first time. I'm going to try and go see it again next weekend.

Top of his class and the commander of all storm troopers expects him to be a great one doesn't = "one of the best?"

Not sure what more you can expect.

Having potential doesn't equal one the best. A storm trooper not being able to shoot people is kinda the opposite of "one of the best".

Peyton manning is one the best qbs in the NFL. Finn is more like the Ryan Leaf of storm troopers.

Actual results != potential. By that logic Jamarcus Russell is a great NFL player because he was a first round draft pick and went into the NFL with high marks.

So I'm finally sitting down to watch the TV series "Clone Wars." I'm not that impressed as of yet (still in season 1 though) and you can see the influence Lucas had on the show.

One thing is for certain, Jar Jar wouldn't have made it out of season 1. Friendly fire rarely isn't...

Ha! Stick with it. There are done dull episodes but overall it's a quality show.

FYI the first 2.5 seasons are jumbled up. If you care here is the proper order to watch them...

That's not ALWAYS a bad thing Grand Vol. There are plenty of ideas, characters, locations, story arcs, etc that have come from the prequel era that I really like and much of it is showcased in The Clone Wars series. Lucas may not be a good director or the best at writing dialogue for a script, but he's a terrific ideas man and were it not for his imagination, we wouldn't have any of this to appreciate.

"Hidden Enemy" was by far my favorite episode from the first season. However I don't understand why it should be viewed second in the order of episodes. It's a rather isolated episode that doesn't link to any other episodes to my knowledge. The only thing about it I can think of is that Asohka Tano isn't in it but that's not all that unusual. It could easily be assumed that she was away on another mission. Padawans aren't always by their master's sides.

I'll give you the creative side is certainly there. Having said that to say this, the squeaky dumb droid voices combined with Jar Jar and a Padawan talking back to a Jedi Knight well before she should be (from the movie) just kinda got to me. It's directed at kids in some places, but in others, you can see the adult side of things coming out.

I just think there was far more that could have been done, kind of like the movie sequences from The Force Unleashed.

They ever say why the airing order was so jacked up?

From what I've read, Lucas liked the preview material so much he decided to release a movie first. He basically took the arc that introduced Asokah, partly because it was finished, and released it before the show aired.

Some episodes got out of order due to production schedules and delays. While others were just because Lucas made some decisions known only to him.

There are only a few instances where the viewing order is jarring.

By the time I got around to looking it up I was right at the point that it straightens out.

I'm just now in season 5 so I've still got a little over a season and a half to go.

Jar Jar is only in a handful of episodes and not nearly as bad as he was in TPM.

Asokah's character is supposed to be snippy. That's why Anakin gives her the nickname 'Snips'. I wasnt overly keen on her at first but she grew on me pretty fast. My kids love her! You can see Anakin's attachment to her, like little sister, become another factor that Palpatine exploits in seducing Anakin.

It does have a few kiddy moments but overall I would say the show leans toward teenagers and adults. It originally aired in prime time.

Yeah Asokah annoyed me at first too but by season 3 she really grew on me! The Clone Wars series introduced a lot of new characters and fleshed out existing ones that I really liked.._

Asokah Tano
Cad Bane
Captain Rex
Admiral Yularen
Aurra Sing
Senator Riyo Chuchi
Master Luminara Unduli
Asajj Ventress
Master Kit Fisto
Master Plo Koon
Duchess Satine Kryze.._etc

In addition it also fleshed out characters from the originals such as Boba Fett, Bosk, Jabba and Tarkin.

I think the show did Anakin justice where the prequels failed. He's head strong and emotional but not whiney. I wish it would have explored his relationship with Palpatine a little more though.

Probably my favorite aspect of the show is how it charactized the Clones. Not only does Captain Rex become a great addition to Star Wars lore but the episodes that focused on Fives, Heavy, etc are some of the best in the series. You also see how the Jedi care about their troops and go to great lengths to save them at times.
