Star Watching (merged)

If you believe this then you've just exposed how little you know about the subject

This ^^^^^^^

Posey is highly likely to be a 4* before the season ends, and the new kid, Saulsberry, has not been ranked yet by Rivals because they lost their FLA analyst. Scout has him a 3* and an article from earlier this year said he was the 3rd best tackle prospect in Florida.

Few of the elite players are going to commit early to a program like Tennessee before ever seeing what the product is going to look like on the field -- what kind of defense will we play? What kind of offense?? Will we be aggressive and innovative and play with fire and enthusiasm? Will we "give up" as we have done in the past?? Will our coaches be able to adjust their game plan during a game to give us a better chance to win??

Perhaps more importantly, how well are Coach Chuck Smith, Coach Chaney, and Coach Heistand going to be able to coach up talent?

Once we are well into the season, they will have a better idea of what UT football under Coach Dooley is going to be.

Sometimes you gotta take what you gotta take. Personally I like his approach. We have so many holes to Phil and Kiff, that often the past two years I've felt we've been playing with 3/4 of a team. I mean we all expect a little attrition but this is ridiculous. Give the man a break. The coaching staff is no longer NFLU, but just a good bunch of guys that hopefully will win more than they lose this year. Besides isn't it nice to see us getting the positions we need, no matter how many stars, than obsessing and continually striking out on "better" players like the kitten did. People want to compare us to UF and UA, guess what guys those are top 5 programs, we're lucky to be considered a little better than average right now. Let's just chill out and let the man do his job.

Get off the dude's back. He made a legit post and instead of arguing the merits or lack-thereof the post, people want to boost their internet/message board cred by bashing the spelling.

no, people are just sick of idiots getting on here and ranting trash about how stupid our fanbase is for "star gazing" although its been pretty well established that the majority of "nay-sayers" are simply upset with our commits less-than-stellar offer lists.

its his own stupid fault for getting on here and calling everyone out and simealtaneously sounded like an idiot and looked like an idiot for spelling the head coach he was defending name wrong. he jumped into the shark tank covered in blood.

This staff is completely unproven. The last staff (except for the HC) was EXTREMELY proven in the college game not only as coaches, but outstanding recruiters (maybe not MK, but his name was enough). That is the answer to this "why arent we getting big time players" debate. Its very simple. Proven coaches vs. un-proven. This staff will have to show what product they can produce on the field before the big-time guys seriously look our way. Its dumb to even argue over it. Anyone who expects, at this point in our program, after all that has happened, for 4 and 5* recruits to spurn offers from UF, UA, OSU, Texas etc. to come here are absolutely kidding themselves and being completely ignorant to the current state of our program.

Anyone who can't do something as easy as spell the coaches' names correctly deserves all the Hell he gets for calling anyone else "simpletons." That's the message board equivalent of Paris Hilton calling someone else stupid.

I agreed he jumped into the shark tank. However, the people who are trying to boost their internet cred are pathetic.

Internet credibility has nothing to do with it. If you insult someone else's intelligence, it's a good idea to avoid making yourself look like an idiot in the process.

All of the recruits haven't played their senior seasons...

Things will change.

No they aren't. I'm not sure they'll get the job done at UT but they aren't unproven. Dooley was on Saban's staff when he was recruiting a NC team to LSU. Thompson and Chaney were on the last staff and have their own resumes. Chuck Smith's resume is just as impressive to young DL's as O's (alot more of them mention it as a factor). Baggett and Hiestand both have pro resumes that stand on their own.

I agree somewhat with this... OTOH, it is Aug 2nd. It is hardly the time to give up on the '11 class.

I think a big part of the "problem" is Rivals this year. It sounds like they've lost staff. Their 1st ratings were delayed. They aren't updating info as often.
