Star Watching (merged)

Get off the dude's back. He made a legit post and instead of arguing the merits or lack-thereof the post, people want to boost their internet/message board cred by bashing the spelling.

the nimrod said that people on this board "were whining like little biatches last year at this time because Kiffin wasn't bringing in any talent." Not only is that dead wrong, it's patently stupid. This place was jacked up because Kiffin was all over some talented kids and making many short lists. At that point, I quit reading and assumed the OP a moron.

when did they start serving nachos at NASA, mania?

ummmm dont rem anyone worrying about kiffin bringin in talent....umm i rem this board being on cloud nine and about to start a militia and have kiffin as our general...

really?? someone lurking the boards is calling out someone else for lurking the boards??

lol

If you believe this then you've just exposed how little you know about the subject

I think it is much more likely that several of them end up satisfying the star watchers by getting a 4th or 5th star.

I don't think the staff is taking commits right now from guys they don't believe have the talent to win championships. This staff isn't a bunch of rookies who don't know football. They also know their jobs depend on getting to a championship level before fan patience runs out (3-4 years).

It would be career suicide for them to take commits from guys who they consider second tier. Maybe you do that in January or on NSD... but not in July-August before they play their senior season.

Well said.

Some of the kids we have recruited to date may not have the elite offer lists, but until we put a product on the field for those elite recruits to examine, they are not going to commit to us.

Dooley and his staff have evaluated all of our recruits in person, and believe that they are quality SEC players. Remember also that Dooley was the first to offer many of those kids out there who do have elite lists. Our coaches are putting their jobs on the line every time they give a kid an offer -- let's give them a chance to show us how good they are.

who are putting so much thought into the stars that Rivals and Scout put on a player. You guys who are bashing Dooley make me sick! I remember having this same argument last year and you were crying like little bitc*es about how Kiffin wasnt bringing in any talent and we all had to talk you off the ledge and say it takes time...he only had a few months before signing day to create relationships with these kids... and then we saw what kind of class he was putting together before he left. And for some reason all of you negative Nancy's forgot that in THREE WEEKS before signing day this past year Dooly pulled Da'rick and Justin Hunter. Do you really think that Thompson and Chaney forgot how to evaluate talent? Do you really think that after all the time Dooley has spent under Saben and in the NFL that he doesnt know what a good player looks like? REALLY!? Do you think that with all the pro bowlers that Bagget and Hindstead have coached that they dont know who can play and who cant?

Let me break it down for you simpletons....Dooley knows more than all of us...they have watched countless hours of film and seen these kids in camp. If DD can pull the likes of Rogers and Hunter in the final hour than I am more than confident that him and his staff can and WILL get the people they need to be successful. Most of the kids they are getting still have their senior season to go and will be evaulted more closely during and after their senior years. Just because they dont have every school in the country offering them schollys as a junior doesnt make them 2nd tier players. So get off your high horses and once again let Dooly do his job. Also rememeber that several players will be taking a wait and see approach to see what kind of offense and defense DD puts on the field...so quit crying!!!

There are alot of idiots on here. Alot who claim that Dooley can not recruit. They simply do not know what they are talking about.

No they aren't. I'm not sure they'll get the job done at UT but they aren't unproven. Dooley was on Saban's staff when he was recruiting a NC team to LSU. Thompson and Chaney were on the last staff and have their own resumes. Chuck Smith's resume is just as impressive to young DL's as O's (alot more of them mention it as a factor). Baggett and Hiestand both have pro resumes that stand on their own.

I would expect Chuck Smith to eventually be a solid coach and recruiter, but to be fair I am just not sure how anyone can say he's proven right now. His personality is likely to be very magnetic with some of these kids, but he really does still have to show he can help our existing linemen get better and display a tenacity on the recruiting trail. These things can only come with time.

That is a valid argument though. :good!: And, one I agree with as well.

I think I have a pretty firm grasp on the distinction.

I have optimism about this staff, there are plenty of reasons to be positive. Blind faith is another thing entirely.

Sab, I like what you say on here most of time, but when you say " blind faith is another thing," Is there any other kind of faith? And if you don't have faith in your team, then it makes you faithless. You got to have have faith in someone (Jesus) or something (UT FOOTBALL). Do you sir, have faith in your team and coaches? You see, all faith is blind, because that's the point, you do not know what is going to happen, until it happens. In Fact, faith is believing it so, when it isn't so, so it will be so. Again, my friend, do you have faith? Do You Believe!!! Thank YOU and its time for the offering!!:):hi:

And no one who is anybody wants him.

You guys can spout off any statistics you want but you can look at an offer list and tell a helluva lot about a prospect.

Some of our commitments have offer lists belying their star rating and that's great. Most pretty accurately reflect them.

I've said my piece. I'll let the excuse-makers continue to fill the discussion with reasons we should all feel warm and fuzzy.

Sounds like somone needs a nap...:snoring:
