Get off the dude's back. He made a legit post and instead of arguing the merits or lack-thereof the post, people want to boost their internet/message board cred by bashing the spelling.
I disagree. I feel that this staff is perfectly capable of recruiting top-tier talent to Tennessee. They showed it in their short time with the last class and continue to show it if only in numbers this season. I think part of the problem is in the plan that is being executed. I do not think we are swinging for the fences such as we did last year. We are settling way too much because of the situation we are in and the sheer numbers we need to have at certain positions.
It's not like Nick Saban didn't sign the #1 class in the nation after going 7-6. Oh, wait.
57, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums are derived of posts from armchair quarterbacks, and faux recruiting experts. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Little DTO?
We have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the orange over-all clad clowns, and curse critics of the coach; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Internet critics, while tragic, probably saves the Mods time, and that our very existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves bandwidth.
You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want people to argue with you, you need someone to argue with you.
We use words like FAIL, Beep Beep, and lulz. We use them as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain how ridiculous the threads are during the off-season to a man who rises and sleeps under the very freedom of free speech these boards provide, and then questions the manner in which they provide it. I would rather you just spell the coachs name correctly the first time, and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you check your feelings at the door, and avoid getting your e-feelings hurt when you post drivel. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
I can't say that I agree or disagree with Sab even though he does bring up some good points, but it does seem a little early to assume that the current players are below expectations.. I would think we would be better to bash and/or celebrate after the kids play their senior season...
I think some one here are way to hard on the commits and some get way to excited over the commits this time of year.... but that is what makes this board so great..
And no one who is anybody wants him.
You guys can spout off any statistics you want but you can look at an offer list and tell a helluva lot about a prospect.
Some of our commitments have offer lists belying their star rating and that's great. Most pretty accurately reflect them.
I've said my piece. I'll let the excuse-makers continue to fill the discussion with reasons we should all feel warm and fuzzy.
I'm all with you man. Our program has reached the bottom of the barrel and these guys on here try and spin it into something good. This is UT...not UM(emphis). With Porter at the helm their recruiting is in good hands unlike ours. Before you say anything I am referring to the 2 programs and their different scales. We are in the SEC and formerly one of the top programs in the nation. Memphis...never been anything. We will have better players in the end(hopefully), but for what Memphis is and has to offer, their class will be better comparatively. We have 2 committed guys that have NO STARS. THEY ARE NOT EVEN RANKED...PERIOD. DO NOT TRY AND SPIN THIS. And the rest of them are academic jewels with three stars. If I wanted a team full of effing Spelling Bee winners, and Chess Club members I would follow the M.I.T. football team. We need a miracle filling out the rest of this class to not fall further from grace. For those of you that think things are good:good!: with this current situation...you are delusional. WE SHOULD HAVE ALL 4*'s and a few 5*'s. MAYBE 1 OR 2 3*'s...like Alabama, Florida, and USC.
But the caliber of players we have recruited up to this point is very disappointing. Some of these guys will undoubtedly end up All-SEC type players, but your odds are much better with better rated talent.
I understand it's a process, but if Kiffin was able to convince high-profile kids to come to UT then we already know it is possible. Unless this recruiting class takes a real turn, it appears that we will be forced to rely on under-vauled players to build our future team upon and please do not delude yourself, that will make it nigh impossible to compete with the Floridas and Alabamas.
This is not an evaluation of our coaching or recruiting abilities, merely a sobering examination of where we are as a program right now.
And also, it makes it ALOT less fun to follow recruiting.
I'm just so much less excited about UT football and recruiting than I was at this time last year. Kiffin was a d-bag, but he was going to turn our program around one way or another.
I hate Pete Carroll.
