Looks to me like SC is at 16 schollies for the 2015 - 2016 season, with the transfers of Imovbioh, Davis, and Gray

15, but maybe they "make room." I don't know. I doubt it but it's possible. Honestly I hope she is not being blocked from Tennessee if she wants to go there. That's just wrong. And honestly, I can't help feeling Tennessee SHOULD get her because it seems like a good match, and to help "preserve the balance."

Gray was blocked. She had to give them a list of schools she was interested in (which is fairly standard) and UNC crossed UT off of that list.

From what I've been told, there were no conditions placed on Mavunga, but I don't know if UT was on the list she submitted to UNC.

That would certainly constitute disparate treatment if one player got an unconditional release and the other did not. I guess we will likely never know but you would think UNC would have enough bad publicity without trying to gin up more by punishing these kids for transferring. And that is what it is when you limit the schools they can choose in a situation like this one.

It is beyond petty.

You thought wrong.

It is what it is. As fans it is out of our control on where Muvunga lands anyways. SC will experience the same recruiting tactics we receive when it comes to these next few high school classes. "Why go there, they are stacked at your position, you will be playing behind player so and so for so and so many years." So if Dawn is able to reel in elite high school recruits along with all these transfers, I salute her. You better believe it, that other coaches will be heavy in these recruits ears. We have learned first hand that elite recruits do not want to come sit and watch, but they want to play early. Its a reason Dangerfield and Carter went elsewhere. I also think it will be tough for us to land Destiny Slocum, but I'm hoping our staff can still convince her to come. I understand that SC fans are excited in the direction their women's program is headed, but some of y'all are getting a tad bit arrogant. I can understand though, SC was the doormat of the SEC for so many seasons.

I believe it was blocked. If you go read their message board and see some of those comments! Why would Te'a Cooper's dad be paid to get Diamond to leave UNC. Lol! The Coopers and DeShields are very wealthy families! Look at Omar Cooper's Instagram, they need no charitable donations. Will UNC fans get it in their heads that Diamond wanted to leave right after she enrolled, but her mother made her stay! I have lost all respect for Silvia Hatchell! To imply something different and try to make Tennessee look bad on the recruiting trail is ridiculous! Now I see what Volcrazy is talking about! Hatchell knows exactly why DeShields left! She knows also that there were a lot of jealousy against DeShields on that team! To sit up there and act totally clueless, but say other things on the recruiting trail is really petty. Its call reaping what you sow. You forced the Day twins out to accept a super class all at one after recruits were committed to your program for quite a while, but its all Tennessee's fault. A bunch of bull. I will be shocked if Muvunga is released to Tennessee. We shall she.

I have really tried to get reliable information on whether Gray and Mavunga were blocked from joining Tennessee. NC fans say no but some reliable sources from Tennessee say yes Gray was blocked. I guess we'll find out in a few days about Mavunga. I can't see her moving into a better opportunity than Tennessee for immediate playing time and a chance to compete for titles. If she ends up at one of the Indiana schools then it would seem that she was blocked although some players just don't care to play at Tennessee.
You would think she would want to get back in school in the second session of summer school so she would get her year in and be eligible for next August to play in 2016.

Instead of those posters on their forum holding their university, coach and staff accountable for what's going on over there at north carolina they're instead pointing fingers at Tennessee, Coach Warlick, Coach Staley, South Carolina, Cooper and her family and DeShields and her family. Which makes no sense at all.

Coaches should be able to put whatever restrictions they want on a player....Tennessee football has done it as well....the sec offense stepped in and essentially stopped transfers within the conference by making a player sit two years.

I understand from blocking a player from transferring within the conference or a school that is on the schedule everything else is petty. If an athlete is not happy in your program, let her go. You only get one chance to be a student athlete. Its real petty as a coach to block a certain school for no apparent reason. But coaches can leave one program and go to another without a penalty. Just like I heard Amanda Butler, head coach at Florida, blocked Sidney Moss from transferring to any Division 1 program. She is a very good player who is stuck playing Division 3 basketball because of a petty coach. I think Moss wanted to transfer closer to home because she was homesick.

Need a rule change that you can only block schools in your conference. Players should be allowed to go to any school in another conference. Understanding why the NC coach would show favoritism to SC a team they play more than Tennessee is really hard to understand.

I hear she is still salty about the DeShields transfer and also the Final Four game where Tennessee defeated UNC in a very close battle.

I guess she decided not to put any restrictions on Diamond guess she thought there might be a huge battle with her and the parents. It will be up to Mavunga if she isn't released to Tennessee to go through the proper channels and raise a complaint with the NCAA. If she has any interest in Tennessee. The fact that Diamond got the release and she couldn't would look very suspicious.
I heard Gray selected SC anyway was her first choice so regardless of Tennessee not on her list there was no problem.

Wow, she needs to let all that go and move on...especially the FF defeat, how long ago was that!!!!

I don't know what Mavunga wants, but if I wanted to go to Tennessee I would find a way to get there.

You thought wrong.

How? I am counting 15 and 1 walkon.

1. Cuevas
2. T. Davis
3. Cliney
4. Wilson
5. Coates
6. Mitchell
7. Imobvioh
8. Dozier
9. Sessions
10. Roy
11. White
12. Colley
13. Gray
14. K. Davis
15. Duckett

Walkon
16. Farmer

Unless someone leaves the team, or Mavunga is going to sit out 2 years, or she is going to pay for her "sit-out" year of college out of her own pocket, I don't see how that is going to work.

You can only have 15 scholarships-right? So, if she went there she could not be put on scholarship immediately unless another was dropped.

Thats weird because they beat us in 2006 to get to the Final Four.

Exactly! I think they also beat us earlier in the 2007 season at their place. In the Final Four game they were up by 10 very late in the game and Tennessee came back and won. Plus the battle between Bobbitt and Latta was priceless! I still see no reason as to why Hatchell is still mad. That was 8 years ago!

Those are a lot of good players. They are going to have more difficulty than we do in keeping all their players happy.

Who are our three weakest players right now? I am going to pick Moore, Jackson and Dunbar or Middleton. Still those are four pretty good players to say are your weakest but let's assume that is true. Who does SC have that you would consider as weak as those four? I can't pick even one.

Are our top 5 as good as their top 5? Probably pretty close. If we had Mavunga in two years to replace Graves that would probably be a step up.

I think it will work for them if Kenya doesn't act up. They are very hungry after tasting success. I also hear Dawn takes no Bull and she will check any egos from the start. They will be a very dangerous team! As of now I will give them the edge over Tennessee in the 2016-17 season because they are so strong in the post. Their post play killed us in both games last season. If we can get 2 elite post players in this class, we will be able to match them player for player. If we land Muvunga and a high school player I think we will take the edge back. I wish Jatarie White would of came here. She would be getting way more playing time. I think she really liked Tennessee, but one of her parents really wanted her at SC. I have no idea what will happen in this 2016 class regarding Tennessee.

I was looking at her minutes last season. She was getting very little playing time.

I will probably be checking my phone constantly tomorrow at work to see if there is any new news regarding Muvunga. I think we may have a better chance at an elite post in the 2017 class. Tennessee is recruiting the 6'4" post out of Georgia really hard. There seems to be high interest between both parties.
