Stephanie Mavunga

Hatchell is a bad loser. That is WELL known about her. She always spoke glowingly about Tennessee when she was beating us. She's been less than gracious to UT, especially behind the scenes (and by that, I mean mostly recruiting), ever since we beat them in that FF game. And let's not forget the royal ass whooping they got in Knoxville during Holly's first season. We haven't lost to UNC since the game we lost earlier in the 2006-07 season in Chapel Hell.

UT's series with UNC was set to be renewed after the 2014 season, until Diamond came here, and then Hatchell declined to renew it.

UNC's WBB program is circling the drain right now. Hatchell will not make it out of this, and it's obvious she's hell bent on making things as miserable for everyone else as possible. The administration has been set on making WBB the sacrificial lamb to save MBB and football for a while now. I don't think it's fair -- not to mention it's downright corrupt, because anybody who thinks UNC set up fake classes to help a sport like women's basketball, and not the pride and joy of UNC (men's basketball) is dumb as a box of rocks. But this will be the end of Hatchell. Personally I think UNC's players should all be given unconditional releases, eligible to play immediately, with a one-year sit out (instead of two year) for in-conference schools. This really isn't fair to any of the players at all. Hatchell's ol' bitter hag ass shouldn't be allowed to block particular schools given the circumstances of the academic scandal. But that's up to the AD to step in, and it's UNC so I don't see that happening.

Basketball programs should not get 15 scholarships--it's absurd. You've got soccer and softball teams that barely have enough scholarships for 1 full team and basketball gets enough for 3 teams? It's even more absurd when you realize that most teams don't even have 15 players on the team--they don't need that many. Dawn Staley does, but then she's an odd duck.

They should switch softball and basketball. Don't know about soccer though. Just not big enough sport here in the US. The only people interested in soccer are the parents and then only until their kid finishes soccer and then afterwards never watch another game.

Who are our three weakest players right now? I am going to pick Moore, Jackson and Dunbar or Middleton. Still those are four pretty good players to say are your weakest but let's assume that is true. Who does SC have that you would consider as weak as those four? I can't pick even one.

I'd say Tiffany Davis, Cliney, and Duckett are our weakest 3 right now. Tina doesn't look bad when she's in but she got very little PT along with Duckett. Cliney got a redshirt so she's kind of in that group by default. Colley is coming in from Canada as a freshman so we'll see how good she ends up being. I'm hearing pretty good things.

Soccer gets bigger in America with each passing year. Major League Soccer is getting bigger and bigger--the value of MLS franchises has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. There is a reason our women's national teams is one of the favorites to win the World Cup going on now. Soccer isn't as popular in deep South A-murr-ica as it is in most other places in America--but then the deep south is peculiar and lags in many ways. And soccer is a great game. If you go to a women's soccer game at UVA, it costs $7, and people go. At UT, sadly, it's free. They should at least charge a couple of dollars.

Wishful thinking.

I think you could randomly pick 5 players off of SC's bench and they'd be a pretty good team. Colley is somewhat of an unknown but she has pretty good press from Canada. I think ours would probably be pretty good but think you guys are a little deeper. You have so many more post options than we do.

Cliney redshirted so you can't really count her either. Tiffany Davis is like miss congeniality of the team. Dawn loves her and she is also like an assistant coach in practice. I don't know if that is enough to keep if she is not going to get more minutes though. She's savvy and can shoot from range and perimeter production is a team weakness right now. So it's a tough call.

I don't know when we'll hear news on Mavunga. She is in training camp for the Pan American team then they play so that is about three weeks. I think she may make a decision before then, but probably want announce until after the games.

Will she not have to enroll in second summer session to be eligible next season? Unless the sanctions are about to come down on UNC. Heard if it comes down soon these girls can petition NCAA to be eligible immediately.

That's crazy coaches can treat players as if they are property. Who made the rule that coaches can dictate where a player can play? They're already being penalized by having to sit out a year. To tell a player, even though you had your heart set on that school you can't go there, because I forbid you from doing so. I could see if you have a contract to play said school annually, but to block a school that you don't even play is messed up. IMO I think an athlete should seek a lawsuit when that happens.
Florida did it to Randy Moss's daughter-can't remember her last name think her first name was Sydney

The likelihood those sanctions are announced in 2015 is slim and none. Turnaround for the NCAA is never that quick after releasing the NOA.

I think at Tennessee that is July sixth and she will be playing basketball on the Pan-American team. We don't know what she is doing may have already enrolled somewhere. We might not hear her decision until after the games.
Her twitter page gives no clues.
I doubt those sanctions will come down for several months. They still haven't told what Donnie Tyndall did and what his punishment will be.

Gray was blocked according to UT sources, but it was obvious that it wasn't important to her. She had no desire to come here. She was looking as SC from the very moment she asked to transfer. Rumor is she had already met with Staley at the USA trials.
Then you have to ask if Gray was blocked then how did Diamond prevent being blocked? Did Hatchel have a senior moment and let Diamond slip through to Tennessee.
Then here comes Mavunga not a word on any school that I have seen. She has definitely ask for and received a transfer, but that is all that has happened.

I think it is because Diamond came to TN that we got blocked on Gray. Like you said though Gray already knew where she was going.

UT was on the list of schools Gray submitted to UNC and was told no. So I don't think you can say she for sure had no interest in coming here. I'm not sure if I would fight it, given the way the transfer rules are structured either. Look at what Romero had to go through

I was wrong looks like the training camp for the Pan-Am games is July 3rd through the 8th so Mavunga has time to make a decision before then.

Right now Mercedes and Diamond are in training camp with the World University team and Holly is an Assistant there as well.

The Pan-Am games starts on July 16th.
