Still have faith in Cuonzo Martin?

You have it wrong....coming on here making excuses for everything Zo does is not supporting him. I support Zo as much as anyone here....actual support is attending every game I am able too, watching every game on tv, buying all the merchandise.....I live and die with UT Athletics and will continue no matter if Zo drives us straight into the ground. I will praise him when he does something. Currently, he has not done anything worthy of praise, and I have little faith that he will succeed here.

I guess you have selective reading...I have criticized Martin multiple times, but of course that gets ignored because it doesn't fit your agenda.

There is no one on here who "makes excuses" for everything Martin does. Get real. Saying something positive about CCM draws in the sharks on here, and then they accuse you of not supporting the university by embracing mediocrity while they're in favor of bringing back a coach who humiliated the university.

You and the we love Martin crowd that you agree with on everything do make excuses for just about everything he is short on. Most remember when he got here the mutual praise society that went nuts if he so much as brushed his teeth. the very few times BTO has slightly criticized CCM are few and far between.

But you all anti-Martin people would have the same complaints with ANY coach that was hired because of your love for Pearl. So you can't complain about those that love Martin when you'd hate anyone brought in.

I agree that the same complaints would be made of any coach when we go back to back NIT first round exits with 3 players that make the all sec team. This has nothing to do with Pearl. It has all to do with bad basketball and a team that peaks too late, but also fades late in the year.

His first year I agree with the disappointment in the SECOND round exit, but with such an emotional letdown at the end of last season, it is difficult to be up for the NIT. Yes, I know, you should ALWAYS be ready to play, but if you've ever played sports, especially before you stopped playing them and realize exactly what the game means to you, you realize those emotional letdowns can take a huge toll on your play like it did. It happens.

Regarding bad basketball, there was a lot of good basketball going on when Tennessee was stomping Kentucky, beating Florida for the third time in a row, etc. It helps when the players are actually executing what Martin wants them to do. Blame him all you want for the losses, but give him credit for the wins too. And going through the season with 0 "bad" losses is pretty damn good, too.

You can be pleased all you want with CM and pick out a few games over 2 years. I'm not. He was outcoached more than he outcoached others. For every ky win, there are a couple of bama or ole miss losses.

How do you figure that the two losses to Georgia were good losses? You see what people are talking about with analysis like this. The majority of fans are not going to stand for mediocrity.

I'm not writing him off yet, but I don't know how people could give him more than a C so far, with or without roster excuses.

He may have embarrassed you, he didn't embarrass me....pearl gets brought up all the time by both sides....people just want a winner....Zo still has a chance to prove it.

Most of the people on here that are accused of being "Pearl Lovers" are not so much in love with Pearl himself but in love with his results.

I would agree 100% with that grade. He's done average, hasn't failed, but hasn't been great either. Just like a C doesn't fail you, a C won't get him fired either at this point.

Funny that winning didn't matter when Jerry Green was here. I was actually not in favor of firing him because a successful BB coach at UT is few and far between.

Those were some incredibly talented teams. Wish Bruce could have coached some of those guys. Namely Tony Harris.

I agree with you. He played basketball at Alabama, so that should be his sport of expertise. Instead of going for the hot coach, how about taking a chance on someone like Eric Musselman. He is wanting to go all in on the college game and is an assistant at Arizona State right now. A lot of head coaching experience in the NBA, CBA and D league.

Ben Howland.

i actually believe Green underachieved and also had some discipline issues with the players. its easy to say he shouldnt have been fired when you look at the next hire made. but its obvious Green wasnt that great of the coach as he hasnt been hired as a head coach since. you put a good coach with those teams and UT has a final 4 on their resume, maybe more.

I would take Jerry Green right now
