There are only two with stand out records, Sampson and Pearl. I guess that's the reason they almost never get hired after a show cause is that they were pitiful coaches to begin with and not because of the show cause orders.

The second you showed up, your agenda is to push Martin regardless of what you've watched. I supported Dooley until he lost to Florida in his 3rd year too... then I realized he's hot garbage. Martin isn't very good, period.

Went from making the tournament 6 straight years, multiple sweet 16's and our only elite 8 appearance to you believing a coach who makes the tournament 1 time in 3 years deserves an extension. Grand, we'll be trash for 5 more years I guess.

I don't get what's more pathetic: how much you all bash this coach or how much you bash those that support him. You all sound ridiculous with your "What, are you his son? Get off of here Cuonzo" etc. You all must be Steven or Jackie Pearl with your lovefest of him. Or maybe you're his mistress with how much you are on his d***. See how dumb that sounds?

BTO doesn't need me to defend him, but you're missing the point.
CM will be here at least 2 more season, barring disaster.
Mediocre won't get him fired.
We don't have the same booster attitudes in bball that we have in football.
And BTO's obsession with Martin has cooled a little lately.
He still supports him but has been surprisingly critical at times.

I've said multiple times, I have no issues with criticism of Martin. In fact, if you've paid attention I've had my fair share of criticism against the man. My issue is when people criticize him on things that they're dead wrong about, or have no facts to back up their statement.

Do I miss making the dance with ease every year and being ranked, hell yea I do. You know what though, there's only one person to blame and that's BRUCE PEARL, it's because of him that we are in the situation we are currently in with Zo.

My support for Zo comes from my support of the university. What do you think the best thing is for Tennessee basketball? 1. For Zo to workout, make Tennessee a consistent top 25 and tournament team or 2. For Zo to fail, and hope that Hart goes out and makes a good hire? The best thing for the program, and many don't want to admit this, is for Cuonzo Martin to work out and be the coach for a long time at Tennesse.

Or people can tell by watching games that he has no clue how to coach an offense. And add that recruiting has been suspect as well. Plenty of reasons to question how good of a coach Martin is

Another university of Pearl fan who doesn't realize the biggest reason we didn't make the dance is that we were left with about 7 scholarship players that were bench players to that point sans Cameron Tatum.

Martin has had his shortcomings but he didn't inherit what Bruce did.

You won't hear me make excuses in 2013-14.

Pearl sheep never want you to bring up the roster. I LOVE BRUCE but I don't deny he left the roster way worse than he found it. Not to mention Martin had to fill 6 spots with the NCAA still snooping around waiting to hand down punishment.

How do we really know? What was Pearl's team picked in the preseason prognostications? Sure, we can all say now that Lofton was awesome and Bradshaw was great and this and that. Yet for some reason that team wasn't picked to finish in the top 2/3rd of the league. It's revisionist history to say that Pearl was left this talented juggernaut by Buzz.

I'm not trying to turn this into a Zo/Pearl thing because Pearl is never going to be our coach. But when people make comments about what Pearl left us, I have to respond. What if Pearl coached that team 2 years ago? I definitely think he would have found a way to make the tourney. Sure, the team was short on experienced talent but there was enough talent to win and make the tourney. All it would have taken was a couple more wins. You don't think Pearl would have gotten there?

Was Makenjoula, Miller, Chevious, etc supposed to morph into SEC caliber guys magically in year two? Was skylar McBee going to magically start hitting shots?

The hole was too deep. Has maymon stayed healthy I think we should have made the tourney. I think we would have.

Chris Lofton was awesome before Pearl got here. CJ Watson plays in the nba. Not trying to take anything away from pearl. He did great with those guys. Overachieved to the fullest.

However, the biggest difference is that Martin inherited half a team that lost its best players.

If you remember, Pearl lost his best player in the 9-10 season and about 30% of his offense. Replaced his best player with Swiperboy and beat the #1 team in the country with walk ons and bench players. then went on to his defining elite 8 finish.
CM had enough talent to get to the dance this season. Just blew it.
Excuses get old after a while.

Bottom line.... Marin has had his flaws. He's been hot and cold coaching and on the recruiting trail.

He's done some great things since he's been here but has yet to put it all together for an entire season. Same goes for his recruiting.

People acting like he's Buzz or Dooley are way out of touch. He's owned Florida. He's 3-1 vs Vandy. He demolished Kentucky this year. He's signed Stokes who had written UT off. He's signed Hubbs who could've went anywhere.

I'm anxious to see what CCM can do this year. I want to see him be a consistent winner this year.

You are blaming Pearl because CM was slow to make adjustments last year and reverted to old mistakes when the season and ncaa birth were on the line?
I get that team last year to the tournament by pushing the pace and running pick and roll every time down. CM hasn't shown that he knows much about offense, and that's why we didn't make the tourney. Plenty of talent.

Sorry to say, he's not what I thought he was.
His offense shows little or no creativity. His defense is predicated on slow down tempo. In other words, the great defense is a myth.
I just don't think he'll ever be more than a very average coach.
Mark my words. If he doesn't land a replacement for Golden, he'll lose early and a lot and be chasing the bubble again in March.
I don't fault anyone who wants to continue believing though. kudos for hangin in.

I guess I feel like most of our problems are because we don't have enough talent. That won't be the case in 13-14.

You have it wrong....coming on here making excuses for everything Zo does is not supporting him. I support Zo as much as anyone here....actual support is attending every game I am able too, watching every game on tv, buying all the merchandise.....I live and die with UT Athletics and will continue no matter if Zo drives us straight into the ground. I will praise him when he does something. Currently, he has not done anything worthy of praise, and I have little faith that he will succeed here.
