To be honest with you cal, Stokes's post up game hasn't quite evolved the way I thought it should. While we have to get the ball inside, throwing it into Stokes was often a bad offensive possession unless he was able to get his own offensive rebound. He showed very, very limited low post moves and ability to finish in the post. I hope that changes this year. Stokes shot 53% last year, which is not close to acceptable for a guy that didn't take a shot outside the lane. He's got to improve down there.
Birdman was 7 for 7 the other night because the pg drew the D. No big man at UT has has a pg in years to direct traffic or get them the ball in scoring position. Yes, Stokes moves are limited, as most 19 yr olds are.
CM would put Stokes with his back to the basket against length instead of giving him room to operate and neither CM or a pg on the floor has proven to understand spacing enough. Then he'd have a wing player on the same side, and a man in the corner, which allowed double teams or help to come from 3 different directions--wing, baseline and back side.
