Stokes dropping out?

If you let it known that Stokes isn't attending classes and has essentially dropped out of school I don't think it'd be that bad of a PR move, may actually draw some compliments abs praise. However, I don't think it'll come to that, he's still in school and likeky will finish the year even if he declares...and if he declares and drops out he will probably go somewhere to train not stick around Memphis.

It probably wont come to that.....but who would we draw compliments from.....If he drops out to concentrate on basketball and begin his pro career.....we should support him with whatever he needs to be successful in his future endeavors.....I dont see how telling him get out of our facilities would be seen as a positive by the next batch of athletes from Memphis.

Yeah, turning your back on past athletes is NEVER a good thing. Ask Dooley about that.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks if he drops out and doesn't hold up his end of the deal it's wrong and there should be a consequence. It will negatively affect our APR and could eventually cause us to be ineligible for postseason play. Do like Tobias did, finish out the year, that's the right way to do things. Hell even the guys at UK finish out the year academically, why should Stokes be different?

The system is beyond stupid and needs to be fixed.....If I was a player, there is no way I would finish out the semester.....I would be like the Syracuse guys and be off training somewhere.... If you believe that John Wall and Demarcus Cousins finished out the semester....I dont know what to tell you.

Show me proof they didn't...

As for the 'Cuse guys, I'm not familiar with what they're doing?

It was a couple yrs ago.....three of them declared and left to train....Boeheim was complaining about it being stupid that it affected his APR.

Out of all the Kentucky guys that have left.....not a single one has failed to finish Spring Semester......Do u honestly believe that? Especially when two of them are John Wall and Demarcus Cousins.......It kind of reminds me how Tim Worley holds an accounting degree from the University of Georgia but said he never attended a day of class.

Not making your best argument using John Wall as an example. That kid was a pretty good student. Now Cousins.... I would also be shocked if he finished the semester. Would just about guarantee Calimari allowed him to keep using their facilities though.

The only player that did not finish out the year was Daniel Orton, who left right after the end of the season. Ask any UK fan and they will let you know how they feel about that.
Calipari makes the players understand that he will do everything he can to help a player reach his potential as long as the player holds up his end of the agreement and finish the school year.
I do believe Wall has returned in the summer to take classes towards a degree.

Actually Daniel Orton didn't finish, calipari was pissed at him and it was very well publicized, so it has happened at UK. Calipari tells these kids when he's recruiting them, they can go pro whenever they want, his one stipulation is they have to finish out the year so it doesn't hurt the next group.

I'm no sure why you keep naming John Wall, he was a very good student in high school and from all reports was a good college student as well. Like I said if you wanna show me some proof that suggests these guys aren't going to class and there's some big cove up going on in Lexington ok, I'll wait...

Is there a limit on how many evaluations you can get in a college career? It used to be two maybe, but I dont recall.

You used to be able to "test the waters" one time...basically go through the entire draft process, workout for NBA teams etc as long as you didn't hire an agent and withdrew before the draft. Now the NCAA has set their own withdraw date, and it's so early that you can't do any workouts or anything. So the NBA created their own committee now to do these evaluations so guys can get some sort of feedback...as for limit, I'm not sure on if or how many of these written evaluations you're allowed.

Don't know where to post this, and I didn't want to start a new thread.

Tarik Black is transferring from Memphis, he announced today.

And is eligible to play immediately, only restrictions are can't go to a team Memphis will play next year right?

With Thomas and Black leaving, could get interesting if Powell and/or Iverson can't qualify. On a side not, absolutely shocked that Vegas has Memphis with 6th best odds to win it all next year, ridiculous.

No doubt, that could get very interesting..

I'm sort of surprised that Golden is not applying for evaluation. Not that he would / could go, but just to go through the process since he is eligible to return.
