Stokes dropping out?

Hopson ruined his chance to ever play in the NBA and unless your an NBA player you aren't getting millions to play overseas. You do get paid millions to play in the NBA though usually. Stokes has potentially to be a 1st rounder in a few years. That's a lot of money to pass on just to have a few 100,000 dollars playing overseas.

You presume that Hopson would've made the NBA by playing an extra year at UT.

If he leaves and ends up overseas so what. He will still be making more than most people do. I mean not NBA money, but still a very good living.

Hopson felt like he needed to leave so he did. He will get a shot at the NBA. He has the talent. He's played overseas in a high level league with no incidents off the court maybe he's mentally put it together.

One more season at UT wouldnt have automatically put him in the NBA....Could he have improved his game enough to get there....possibly.....He also can improve his game overseas and get there.

CJ Watson wasnt drafted and improved enough after college to make the NBA.....Brandon Jennings went straight to play overseas and then to the NBA...I dont think Hopson would have been a 1st round pick after another year of college so it probably made no difference.

Chism played all four yrs at UT and what did that get him?

Unless I'm wrong, Hopson signed an NBA contract recently. Even if its just a 10 day or minor one, he still is playing in the NBA.

There's no assurance that it would've, no. Plus, he's had a few seasons abroad, and the NBA is still yet to come calling (I'm not saying that they never will).

There's no assurance it would have and it's possible he could have gotten worse had he returned his senior year. On the flip side, he could have improved his game his senior year at TN and gotten drafted by the NBA. But let's be real here.

Scotty admitted he wasn't ready mentally for the NBA after the draft was over. But as a man, you make your decisions and move on and that's what I think he has done. I don't know the details of his contract at this time, but there is little doubt in my mind that he would be getting more money right now had he stayed his senior year. Do you disagree with that?

What's the average time that a player can realistically make some money playing ball? 10 Years. It is stupid to stay and play for free and give away 10% of your earning potential if realistically you are not going to make that 1st round earnings. He's played 3 years, will probably have a degree or very close to one. How can you blame anyone to go and start making money when the window is very short of earning potential.

Its NBA or bust baby. I thought you knew...

No he didn't. Hopson plays in Israel, which is a good but not great league. France has probably the best Euro ball right now. Hopson wouldn't make a roster in France let alone the NBA. It's why he is in Israel and not Europe.

actually a couple weeks ago (or less) he tweeted about the NBA, whether that's a summer invite or a ten day contract I don't know but it has been discussed here. It's in a thread titled Hopson to the NBA or something like that.

And you think one yr in college would have made him an NBA player LOL

By some of the rules I've come aware of with the NBA it would have to be a summer workout next year. It's too late for him to sign with a team now. So I'm thinking summer workout.

You said he "ruined his change to play in the NBA". What else could you mean by this?

He did ruin his chance. He left when everyone told him he'd never get drafted. For some reason he thought he was 1st round talent. Probably because of people like yourself who think it's wonderful to leave and just go overseas and play. Understand something, Hopson isn't playing in Europe. He's playing in Israel. A good league, but not anywhere close to NBA level. Had he stayed and worked on his dribbling and shooting, he could have had a better chance to play in a better overseas league. 300,000-500,000 dollars is chump changes to the better players that play in Europe who make 7 digits a year.

Actually I think Hopson was a true waste of talent. Again, it's why he plays in Israel.

Well why was it a mistake to leave early then.....He was not a waste of talent....he was just overrated....the guy avg close to 18 ppg his senior yr..... i wish he was more consistent and had improved skills in certain areas but he just wasnt able to get to that point.

If he was going to go overseas anyways, why stay another year? Go make your money while you work on your game.

Ok we get it you have something against Hopson. Is it because he didn't stay a year or what?

I have nothing against Hopson. I have a problem when people on here truly think he's going to play in the NBA come next year. You guys are clueless. I grew up watching UT from the Green days to the O'Neil days, and there's about 10 plus guys who never made it to the league that are head over heals better then Hopson. I don't care if he stayed or not, but it was in his best interest to stay regardless of people's arguments. The Israel league was a worst case scenario for Hopson, and then he soon realized his game wasn't good enough to play anywhere else.
