Stokes dropping out?

And is eligible to play immediately, only restrictions are can't go to a team Memphis will play next year right?

With Thomas and Black leaving, could get interesting if Powell and/or Iverson can't qualify. On a side not, absolutely shocked that Vegas has Memphis with 6th best odds to win it all next year, ridiculous.

Pastner has never had a recruit not qualify, let alone two in the same year. I think all the freshman will be here next year, but that still leaves us thin up front without a big man transfer.

Pastner never won a NCAA game till this year either, so maybe this is a year for firsts??? Not saying I think neither will qualify, just saying it'll get interesting if one or both doesn't...from what I've heard sounds like chances of Iverson qualifying aren't that good

Anything is possible, I guess.

From all reports, Iverson is doing everything needed to qualify and things are looking good for him.

Pookie is taking the ACT again to get his scores up.

There were concerns, greater than these, surrounding Will Barton and he suited up for us.

Again, the bigger concern is getting a big-man transfer. This makes Memphis more appealing to the likes of Josh Davis.

I think he is making a big mistake.

Being in Memphis, something just didn't mesh well with him and Pastner. Black is a pretty smart guy, and I really don't think this move is about basketball. I think he was just ready for a change.

It is kind of funny that Black gets criticized for not playing well, which I agree he didn't play to his potential. But, all of a sudden, next year they aren't left with much experience in the frontcourt. Goodwin will get better but has to show he can stay in a game and not foul. Iverson and Nichols will be young and physically raw. I was told that Iverson was more of a face up player. So, Memphis could struggle again inside next year.

Well, the restrictions would only count against conference opponents and open series contracts that Memphis may still have with other schools since there is no schedule in place and won't be for months. Oh... and Memphis' only rival Louisville. So, that would be very few teams.

Not that we have a shot at Tarik if Stokes returns, but it would be funny if he came here since Pastner decided to not renew the TN series.

Might be a pretty good trade .... Stokes goes pro (attempts at least) and Tarik comes to TN for one year and paves the way to bring Leron with him.

Black is a monster. Memphis fans are idiots. I have read so many "We will be better off without him" comments. UT would love to have Black as would many other schools.

As of now expecting Rawane Ndiaye, the juco post player from Indian Hills we mentioned last week in the War Room, to be in town on an official visit this weekend. Ndiaye is actually a redshirt freshman, having sat out one year, so could sign in the late period and enroll somewhere in the fall.

As we all know, the Vols are already under a numbers crunch, so not sure if bringing Ndiaye in is nothing more than insurance against Stokes maybe deciding to take his chances or if something else is afoot. Either way, interesting development.

Also look for Darius Thompson to make his official visit this weekend.

-Rob Lewis

With that tweet by Jarnell, and with the news of Ndiaye visiting, it makes me wonder if there is a correlation between the two.

Hate to put it this way, but we all know if everyone comes back next year we will compete at a pretty high level...so naturally everyone wont come back. GBO!

Evan Woodbery stated on the radio yesterday afternoon that he believed that Stokes would likely go into NBA draft even if he was only second round. Woodbery added that it would be a big mistake if he did - just like Hopson.

Yes, he'll go and it'll ruin his entire career just like Hopson. Stokes is no where near ready to play in the NBA, and anyone who argues otherwise doesn't have a true concept of the NBA game. If Stokes goes and someone picks him up in the second round he's destined to be a NBA D-league player at best unless he drastically improves he's post game, touch around the rim, and FT shooting. Stokes is a liability in close games because he can't hit FTs. NBA teams won't accept that unless your a freak athlete or great shot blocker, neither of these traits Stokes posses.

Ruin his caree? Hopson makes six figures plus playing basketball overseas......Maybe he would have made the NBA if he stayed one more year but chances are he would have gotten paid one less season to play basketball overseas.

Hopson ruined his chance to ever play in the NBA and unless your an NBA player you aren't getting millions to play overseas. You do get paid millions to play in the NBA though usually. Stokes has potentially to be a 1st rounder in a few years. That's a lot of money to pass on just to have a few 100,000 dollars playing overseas.

Exactly right. He was only limited by his foul trouble.

Tarik isn't heading to UT, whether Stokes goes to stays.
