Might as well shut down the entire Tennesse University system. Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Martin. Heck. Remove all institutions of higher learning from the state of Tennessee!
I agree with you a 100% I don't believe in ratings ..for example they have Brandon Johnson at 3 star but he play like a 5 star no way he should have been a 3 star player... lower rated players are more hungry always play with a chip on there shoulder. MICHIGAN STATE rarely have high rated players but always compete every year to win championships..all about coaching and developing look at all those great players you name out that's in the league besides SUTTON which he is a beast! FOOTBALL SEASON HURRY PLEASE GO VOLS!
My solution, simple.
Rogers would have been a priority as a slot WR.
Richardson would have been a priority as a RB.
I would not have seen either as "no big loss".
Taking a commitment from both as they CAN play at Tennessee, I likely secure Higgins as well.
It's called locking down the state. It's signing talented recruits and coaching them to succeed and win.
Even a situation like Jordan Williams. If you're signing higher rated talent in 2017, maybe he's a Vol instead of a tiger. I can see why top rated guys are shying away right now. On paper, it looks rough.

"No big loss" seems to be popping up too many times this year. These next few months should be interesting. Maybe some of bigger names have a change of heart.
I have no idea if the guys holding the camps or training these guys steer them to a school or not. If it happens I can't say I'd be surprised or even really against it. Same with high school coaches who hold the door open for some schools and not for others. It's about trust, relationships, and who they have a good history and or experience with. If I were a coach in that sort of situation I am sure I would favor some staffs over others.
If lets say Michigan recruited, offered, and signed one of my high 3* guys in 2016 and return in 2017 to come after my 5* guy does every school start on an even playing field? IMO no. I'm holding the door open for Michigan and not so much for the schools who were nowhere to be found the previous year. I could see some of these guys doing the camp and training stuff the same way.
So you'd hinder the recruitment of one kid because a school did not recruit one of your other kids before? Definitely the right thing to do. Give yourself a pat on the back Leb.
I wouldn't stop a kid from going anywhere. I just wouldn't roll out the red carpet for schools who rarely if ever show up. As I said trust is a big part of it. I'd actually tell staffs early on, don't offer unless you mean it. IMO it would weed out a lot of the nonsense.
I may get scorched but I really believe if everyone sticks this class can be solid. Obviously there is a lack of star power and Dabo the d#ckhead has grabbed some guys we all wanted as well as Georgia. However, this class is heavy in the trenches with roughly 10 guys on both lines. Of those offensive and defensive linemen they have been highly sought with the exception of one or two. The class may not rank in the top 5 or even the top ten when all is said and done but it is heavy with quality big men. The key in my opinion is adding Trey Smith,Ty Chandler, and hoping for a signing day miracle to include Akers.
What are you doing if it's not? You previously said you aren't stopping anyone from recruiting your kids.
I'm hoping for the best. Lots of top talent coming off the board. They aren't waiting like a lot of fans were hoping. With the staff taking so many by July I think they are in the process of learning a hard lesson this cycle. We'll see how they close it out.
Learning a lesson? Yeah good thing too huh seeing as these coaches are new to all this recruiting stuff.
Defending NC is Alabama...
They will field a starting Defense comprised of all 5*.
/thread.
See where the last 10 teams to win a national championship averaged in recruiting and get back to me. This has been argued over and over in the media and the answer is top 5, maybe top 10 once or twice, so just quit.
So they are playing the 2 new Freshman (2016 class) and have a defense that is comprised of only 1 DT and 1 DE?
Between 2013 - 2016 they have signed 20 5* and 8 are offense and 1 labeled as ATH. The other are defense but they would have to start them all to have a defense completely comprised of 5*. 3 are OLB, 2 ILB, 4 CB, 1 DT and 1 DE.
Maybe you meant comprised of 5* and 4*?
Nope...it was reported, ESPN College Football I believe, that this could be the case. They could field a starting Defense comprised of 5* recruits at every position.
