Student Suspended For Removing Mexican Flag

So if they decided to hang the Bonnie Blue in a public school, that would be cool with you, since thats part of our southern heritage?

Not familiar with the Bonnie blue, but if its the rebel flag. I say he's got the right to. Another poster pointed out how ludacris it is to try and compare the rebel flag to the Mexican.

I agree with this statement tVF.But- How is allowing AMERICAN's of Mexican heritage to sport the country of their fathers flag in the hallway bc of a celebration of their heritage for a day or two bending over for them. I feel like the only hostility came from the tearing down of the flag. (I obv wasn't there, but from what I've read/heard) If they start singing the Mexican anthem and saluting and pledging to the Mexican flag. Or organizing political demonstrations on campus, I'd see the angle being taken by many. But, I just think its all overblown. And the idiocy started with the "Patriot" kid. There's a difference between fighting for liberty and just fighting.

Cinco de Mayo isn't even "Mexican Culture", thanks to the perpetrators of Corona Beer, the city of Puebla's celebration of the Mexican army's minor victory over the French has become just one more excuse for Americans to get drunk and act stupid.

"Cinco de Mayo" has a better sound for marketing, as opposed to "diez y seis de Septiembre" or Mexican Independence Day, or "viente y uno de Septiembre" Mexico's actual day of independence.

"Mexican" isn't a race, it's a nationality. "Hispanic" isn't a race, it's an ethnicity.

The Bonnie Blue was the first flag of the Republic of West Florida. It was flown in a revolt against the Spanish in 1810. It was later adapted as an inspiration for the Texas State flag. It was also flown by the Texas regments during the Civil War.

the sense of entitlement of some of these illegals and children of illegals living in america is truly unbelievable. when did it become our duty to find work for and educate citizens of a foreign country? is there gratitude? nope.

1. Way to give me an example of something I CLEARLY said I would view DIFF and assume I'm in agreement with it.
2. The Principal,Superintendant,SBoard,on up are responsible for any flags being flown on a given schoolyard. Any fault is there's. (I don't know about that pic I've seen btw)
3. What one person does in association with the Mexican flag and or political expressions does not bar the use of that flag for peaceful or celebratory purposes. Your not really gonna try and tell me hanging a US flag upside down and hanging a mex flag in the hall are the same thing? Are you gonna tell me that I don't have the right to drink bc some ppl that drink drive drunk? WTF?

Regardless of the debate, thanks for this tidbit. (Sincerely)

and nope, they're not treated equally. if all races/genders etc. were treated equally, we'd have an executive workforce (CEOs) that match the college-graduate population. We don't.

Well clearly any college grade is ready to be a CEO.

oh really?

The proportion of college students 25 and older increased from 28% in 1970 to 44% in 1995.
Between 1985 and 1995, the number of college men rose 9%, while the number of women increased by 23%. The proportion of students attending college part-time grew from 32% in 1970 to 43% in 1995.
The percentage of 16- to 24-year-old full-time college students who were employed rose from 36% in 1973 to 69% in 1995/96. Those working 20 hours or more increased from 17% to 37%.
Enrollment of minorities in higher education rose from 15.7% in 1976 to 25.3% in 1995. Increases came mainly among Asian (moving from 2% to 6%) and Hispanic (4% to 8%) students. Enrollment in elementary and secondary schools of students from groups in the minority rose from 29.6% in 1986 to 35.2% in 1995

and yet, CEOs of fortune 500 companies are less than 1 percent black... man, you're proving my point left and right

your point is that a college degree should automatically enter your name in the CEO job application database. It doesn't and assuming that people with only a college degree are all competent enough to even do the job a CEO does is ridiculous at best.

all of these statistics seem to support what i have said. thanks

If I burn a Mexican flag on Cinco de Mayo, am I exercising free speech, or am I exhibiting hate?

If it's the latter, what about the leftists that routinely burn American flags during their protests?

obviously, just because you have a degree doesn't make you qualified....
but it's amazing how when comparing percentages of the college demographics to the percentages of CEO demographics, the subjective opinion (since you like to throw ambition, drive, etc. in there) is that white males are more qualified. they're all getting the same degree, so the overriding factor has to be a subjective opinion, one of which favors white males overwhelmingly in this country.

who is all getting the same degree? You think all degrees from all schools are equal?
