Sunday's commits....

Excuse me sir but I was born and raised in Alabama. I attended the University of Alabama and have relatives who went to Hoover and played with John Propst. Just bc I obtained my bachelors and masters in Industrial Engineering and moved to Maryland for work does NOT make my statements any more less valid.

owned.

if your relatives are claiming the kid cannot play then it actually does weaken your argument and the fact you went to bammer weakens it more.
He had an incredible coach these last 2 years as well that developed him for the game and his brain helps him as he is very intelligent and KNOWS the game which helps.
He does not have 4.2 speed and is not huge but he CAN PLAY and will. Probably a redshirt season and it will be two years before he is playing alot but saying he can't play is actually quite foolish and I will relish coming on here in 3 years and saying............

until then

im not ill with you...wanted explanation.

so his argument of going to bama and knowing people at Hoover..allegedly...versus me living in Hoover for 38 years now and being 5 minutes from the stadium and taking my son to all the home games.(he is 4) have been last 2 years..and to a few away games is better
ok

Some comments don't elicit a response but I'll play along for awhile... before attending the University of Alabama, I was tabbed by Baseball Factory as a 1st team pre-season All-American along with the likes of David Wright and Gavin Floyd. BJ Upton was named an All-American as a junior that year. Maybe you've heard of them...

I elected to go to Jackson State University over Auburn, Furman, Troy, and Duke because they offered me a full scholarship opposed to a partial one. Anyone that follows baseball knows that full scholarships in baseball are virtually non existent.

In college I played against Rickie Weeks who was later drafted 2nd overall in the MLB draft. Not trying to name drop but as I said I know talent.

I ended up transferring to the University of Alabama not because I wanted to attend there but bc my father died of prostate cancer my freshman year and my mother had a stroke my sophomore year. In order to take my mom back in forth to treatment, I transferred to UA where she was having therapy.

Sorry for being so long but like I said the kid is average.

Because there just verblas nothing matters till they sign their LOI's. We have room for everyone that we expect to get. The coaches are tracking and pretty much know who they excpect to sign. What thw staff is doing is building much needed depth.

+1

If they can get better players they will and if they can't then they at least have guys they chose that aren't walk-ons.

They will not turn away a James Stone or a Markeith Ambles if they want to come here.

Some of you should relax, Dooley is handling this the right way.

Hate to jump in here, but how does your history in baseball have anything to do with evaluating football talent? I played baseball all of my life, in fact played with two guys that were drafted in the sandwich round and 2nd round by the Padres and Brewers two years ago. I have seen and know baseball talent as well. The only kind of football talent that I can identify are the highlight reel types. Not seeing your parallel.

I was offered football scholarships by Southern Miss and UAB and have broken down film with people who have played D1 football or in the arena league. Two of which are now coaching at the collegiate level. Not saying I'm the best talent evaluator but I do know more than a novice.

I don't like to name drop but I shook the hand of Mr. Bill Cowher at a Carolina Hurricane playoff game one time...

Fair enough. Just wasn't sure how an entire post about baseball talent validated your ability as a football talent evaluator.

You can't backcount the 3 sign and place guys that get you to the 28 limit. The amount you can enroll per year, minus back counts is 25. We signed 23 last year so we get 2 (count em, 1 and then 2) back counts. We can get 25 that count for this class into school. We can also sign 2 more that back count to last years class for a total of 27 that can enroll. We can furthermore sign 3 that are sign and place guys that don't qualify and have to go to Juco. That's a total of 30.

This. Sorry, im4dvols, but your information is completely wrong. You can sign 25 guys to enroll + 3 sign and place for a total of 28. We signed 24 last year but only enrolled 23(James Green didn't make it) so we can back count 2 of our EE's to the 2009 class. This leaves us with 25 + 2(back counts) + 3(sign and place) for a total of 30 players with 8 being EE's and the remaining 19 summer/fall enrollees. As of this moment(Sunday, Jan 31 @ 9:45 pm) we have 17 verbals to go with our 8 EE's giving us a total of 25. So at this moment, we have 2 spots remaining.

In all honesty, we could have more than 27 commits...you have to take into account the JUCO's, grey shirts(if CDD goes that route), or guys that verbal with the understanding they may lose their spot if a guy higher on our board commits. Not all of our current verbals will be a part of this class come Wednesday evening.

we got a guy from hoover?
WOW! not that i didn't believe that CLT WAS a great recruiter, but hoover?!?! that's pretty much a prep school for bama!! picking a guy up out of hoover is huge IMO. CLT is a freak recruiter obviously!!:rock::rock:

Propst is a good pick-up just look at some of the players that play or played for Bama that are from Hoover.John Parker-Wilson Josh Chapman Cory Reamer. All of them are good players.

Borrowing from Ocho Cinco...'child, please.' Seen the kid play on numerous occasions over his 4 yr career at HHS and that wouldn't exactly be the statement I'd use.

Go ahead and bash our prospect real good. Maybe you will give him second thoughts and he will go elsewhere. Guys like you are real geniuses. You probably boo our players in front of recruits. I would trust our coaches before I would someone talking through his hat just to hear his head roar.

Read what I wrote...last time I checked I AM entitled to my opinion. Scouts grade I grade. I just said that wouldn't be the term I'd use.

Reading is fundamental.
