Superman vs Batman movie coming in 2015!

Saw it last night. I really didn't like it. The performances were fine, but the writing was just terrible. Snyder and company seemed to be aiming for the Dark Knight style bleakness and grit, but they seem to have no concept of why it worked in those movies. Batman's motivation made absolutely no sense in relation to any other portrayal of the character.

I'm actually intersted in knowing who hated it that actually reads comics ????

I read comics when I was younger, but I wasn't a DC guy. So I'm not at all familiar with the source material for the film and, had I been, maybe I would have enjoyed it more. But then, I'm not really familiar with any of the source material for the Dark Knight trilogy, and I loved all three films.

I haven't seen it but my friend who is a huge DC comics guy said he was entertained by it, but that Zach Snyder "really doesn't get Superman". I've seen that comment a lot.

I hate to break this to you, but you can't someone their opinion is wrong. The original poster said he thought it was better. He didn't say it's definitely better or that anyone else should think it's better.

Especially if you haven't see the movie............

Superman was my main disappointment for sure. I just felt bad for the guy and its true, Snyder doesn't understand who Superman is and is supposed to be.

As someone who has read comics for over 25 years of my 38 years on this planet, I can whole heartedly agree the Snyder and Goyer have zero clue how to handle Superman. I base that off MoS and the trailers of BvS mostly but even the positive reviews I've read bear that out as well.

FTR I'm not a Marvel or DC guy. I love both pretty equally. I love comics.

Affleck was pretty good, and I enjoyed the Batman scenes and character for the most part, but the movie as a whole, didn't do much for me. Looked great visual wise (save for maybe Doomsday), but the story, writing, pacing, and editing was a mess. Ruining WW's appearance in the trailer was a god awful idea. I'm cool with people liking it, and I think most of the reviews straight up ****ting on it are about as over-the-top ridiculous as Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was, but I didn't feel anything walking out of the movie. Pretty much fits the bill for a C grade imo

Rumor is joker may be jason Todd in ss.

Hope its true.

Which explain why he looks like a wanna be joker and be an awesome take in the movies.

Rumors are mainly generated from this

Amy Adams was naked.

No nipples or anything but as close as you could get to it.

....just in case you're not ready to have "the talk" yet.

Thanks for the heads up!

That would certainly make things interesting. I still don't like the way Leto looks as the Joker, but that would be a good twist.

You haven't read too much Superman then.

He is a tough character to write. All-Star Superman encompasses the best of every era of the character. There is an animated adaptation that was pretty true to the source. It may be on Netflix.

John Byrne's run in the 80's is one of my favorites too.

Superman is supposed to be bright and hopeful. Snyder's is anything but. I've seen some try to justify MoS by pointing to the New52. Unfortunately that falls flat when DC never quite figured out the direction they wanted to go with the character. In the 5 years since the reboot they rotated creators every 8-12 issues and nothing would stick. Now they are rebooting again. by bringing back the New 52 version and putting Dan Jurgens, the man who killed Superman, back on the book.

I'm glad they showed him actually saving a few people unlike in MoS. It's not just about that though.

There is a certain spirit of the character that Snyder and Goyer just don't 'get'. From what I understand those scenes you mention are used to present S as some type of God. While that is an interesting theme to explore with superhero (it's been done in the comics) there still is a tone of optimistim that is severely lacking in these movies.

The 70's Donner Superman movies are full of flaws. From unexplained powers to dated FX to some ultra cheesy scenes and they are not 100% faithful to the source, but they capture the spirit of the character in every way that Snyder fails.

The plot of this movie makes it hard for superman to have hope and be bright tho

That was why I couldn't enjoy it. They wanted to go for bleak a la The Dark Knight. But they didn't understand what the bleakness meant in that context. So they tried to shoehorn Superman into a view of the world in which he doesn't belong, AND they completely screwed up Batman's motivation by trying to get him to understand that warped version of Superman.

Exactly!

DKR came out after 50 years of preexisting context in the comics. The storyline and motivations of the two characters was earned. Snyder really wanted to rush to that... Oh and throw in Doomsday while he's at it.

I laughed when I read Snyder say the Flash from the TV show "doesn't fit" in SvB's world. It's weird because you look at shows like Flash and Arrow. The tone of the two shows are the perfect juxtaposition of how Superman and Batman should be. When they crossover the writers don't try to shoe horn one into the others world. Flash remains bright in Arrow's darker themes and vice versa.

I know it seems petty I keep railing on a movie I haven't even watched but I love Superman too much to see his character totally misunderstood.
