Switch to Nike: Like or Don't Like?

How do you feel about UT switching to Nike in 2015?

I like that fact that we can now use the Nike Football instead of that crappy Wilson. should help our kicking game, at least.

I know that it's the keystone of this issue.
But, from the first game that we switched to the GST, we have never been in national contention. Well, unless you count pre-season 2005 polls, LOL. On the second game Casey Clausen fumbled away in what is probably the ugliest series of offense in the history of UT Football. Rivaled only by Eric Ainge's one play endzone hook shot at LSU.
I never liked that "orangy" looking ball. Here's to hoping the curse of the GST ends after the 14' season. "Wilson" is good for companionship on a deserted island. That's what UT Football has felt like for some time now.
It's all true.'

Ainge this morning made a very strong case for using the Nike footballs. He said they're a lot easier to throw. If it helps our passing game even by a small amount, I am for it.

Nike has a better and more marketable line plus as crazy as it is recruits love Nike & UA.

I hope we don't see the outrages stuff that Oregan and even some of the other teams have wore, was it UMASS? Some of it is UGLY. I like to stick with the TN orange and white and not get to fancy

I don't really care that Tennessee is switching but can someone please cite where a recruit actually said that they wouldn't commit to a school because of the brand of gear a particular school uses. I don't follow recruiting close enough to have ever seen a quote like that and if someone can provide one, I'll concede.

Personally, I think that the brand a school uses is as inconsequential as random comments made on a forum when a recruit makes their decision.

Shabazz Muhammad did. Ironically he chose UCLA because they were an Adidas school. A lot of shady dealings went on with that. His sister is a professional tennis player who has a contract with Adidas.

It only matters to people who think the clothes make the man.

Settled. This applies to the majority of top 16-17yo HS talent IMO. If Nike's the bomb, then we better get on the train. I can't stand most Rap either, but if it sells ...

other than the example in post #62, no kid has ever turned down a scholarship to UT based on the uniform provider

this nonsense is being driven purely by the fans who see Oregon prancing around in 10 thousand different uniform combinations and shiny chrome helmets and think "why can't UT be more like Oregon?"

As long as those same footballs that are easier for us to throw are more difficult for opponents to throw I'm all for it.

I hate the whole Oregon-different-uniform-every-game-thing but I still think switching to Nike is a good move for UT. So there's that...:twocents:

I like the switch as long as they don't get crazy with the unis. I thought adidas did awesome on the gray unis so that means we want be seeing them again

I'll wait until I see designs of the uniforms and what they thing is a reasonable price for fan gear. Even then I'll probably snatch up as much Adidas stuff as I can when it starts getting moved out.

Thing is Adidas doesnt stock enough of the larger sizes to last the season - all I ever see left is S or M
