Syrian Kurds are close to declaring Independence

So in order to try and throw shade on Trump for a policy which has been screwed up for over a decade you’re willing to put US soldiers in the line of fire to be killed. What a bunch of f-ing idiots 🙄

We're risking having even more troops killed in the long-run if we abandon the area without an exit plan.

If Trump does t give the Turks the Greenlight to cross the border and remove troops from the area what would the Turks do???? Would they attempt to push us out???

Which portions of the very recent history are you ignorant of?

The fact this has been in the works since early August? That we were negotiating with the Turks on their security zone buffer? That we convinced the Kurds to dismantle their defensive works facing the Turkish border and they did so willfully?

That the Turks walked away from the negotiations over the depth of their "security zone?" We wanted 10 clicks, they wanted 40 and we couldn't agree. The Turks massed troops on the border and the President was faced with a decision to make because they were sure as hell coming across the border as they'd been planning to do.

Yeah, they would try to move us out. Or go around us as a minimum. And what then? Does the ROE cover engaging an Alliance member when they go after our conditional allies? You think those 50 observers/trainers are everywhere at once? Turkey probably knew very well where each and every one of them were and could avoid them while they did what they did.

He made a rash decision without using any critical thinking or consulting the NSC, JCS, CENTCOM Commander or any State Department experts in the field. But Trump does this time and time again making rash decisions without considering the possible consequences but your ok with that because it “Makes America Great Again.”

I'm okay with it.

Because it gets us the hell out of a country where we had no business being in the first place.

Sounds to me like since we moved out the Russians moved in and the Kurds have their protectorate. Problem solved for us and the Kurds. Erdogan played a fool by playing both sides for so long. His military probably does not even want to fight for him since his great purge.

We have around a thousand troops in the area with clear zones likely into Iraq. No heavy equipment to speak of either.

How hard is that "exit plan?"

Yeah, sure we would. Vietnam could have gone on for another 20 years if the war hawks had their way and I'm pretty sure that we would have lost a lot more soldiers if we had stayed.

I'll give Nixon all the credit in the world for the drawdown he performed over there as well as bringing the North Vietnamese to the table with Linebacker and Linebacker II.

What Carlos and others fail to recognize is we left a lot of our "allies" behind over there as well like the Montagnards and other pro-US groups in which Nixon and Ford took a beating for. You are correct though, the alternative was perpetual war halfway around the world.

There’s tons of heavy equipment in Northern Syria. There are entire RCPs there. And U.S. Forces just don’t go from Syria to Iraq. It’s a straight shot from either Syria to Kuwait or vice versa.

TDS has always been a projection... I'll donate to the "Race for TDS cure" with your name on the little colored paper red hats. #staystrongND40
So true.
The primary symptom of TDS is the immediate tendency to accuse anyone critical of Trump of having TDS.

This is so true.

Remind me what year got involved in this Civil War? 2011? And what was our clear exit criteria? And how many other countries in the region did we have troops in when we chose to get involved in a damn civil war?

What’s even more awesome is watching war hawks on both sides of the aisle trying to rewrite a narrative to pin this whole **** show on Trump... again 🙄

Our exit criteria was the defeat of ISIS which as of today hasn’t happened but if you ask Trump we defeated them and the war is over.

Since you're so dead set on having our servicemen and women sacrifice their lives and be away from their families, why don't you stand up and volunteer to stay behind?
