Syrian Kurds are close to declaring Independence

Our exit criteria was the defeat of ISIS which as of today hasn’t happened but if you ask Trump we defeated them and the war is over.
LMFAO! That’s quality logic. Our exit criteria was the defeat of an ideology which you can’t put a bullet to. War hawks gonna war hawk 😂

Look ISIS is in North Africa!

Look ISIS is in Southeast Asia!

Look ISIS is in the Balkans!

With a policy decision like that we should be able too keep 30 to 50 thousand troops in the field for the next two decades at least!

BRING OUR DAMN PEOPLE HOME! NOW! **** THE REST OF THE WORLD LET NATO CARRY SOME WATER!

This idiot ideology is the exact same rationalization that had our young men dying in Sourheast Asia to save the world from the communist scourage. Let the world try to save their own asses for once.

There’s tons of heavy equipment in Northern Syria. There are entire RCPs there. And U.S. Forces just don’t go from Syria to Iraq. It’s a straight shot from either Syria to Kuwait or vice versa.

Of course.

I guess LSA Roberts is fictional. Or Qayyarah Air Base... Or Camp Taji... Or Bashur Field in Kurdistan itself

No place for American troops to fall back to except Kuwait. How wrong I was.

Now, I'm not sure exactly what an RCP is, but I would hope you'd explain it to this old retired NCO and explain exactly how much heavy equipment is in Syria.

Balad Air Base is back under Iraqi control now. That's where their F-16s are based out of. The U.S. controls more bases in Joran than in Iraq. Route Clearance Packages. Basically about 15 to 35 of your heaviest MRAPs with about 5 weighing around 35,000lbs and the only way transport them by air is by putting them on C-17 with all 6 wheels off. You could pick them up with chinooks but it would be a slow process.

ISIS in Syria was on its last legs because the Kurds did all the leg work with our assistance. Now he has them breaking out of prisons and U.S. SF trying to get all the High-Value ISIS fighters out which is not pure chaos trying to do.

Where do we fight ISIS next Carlos? You got your bag packed? We’ve had an entire generation of our youth in the field fighting ideologies. We don’t need to spend another entire generation of youth fighting more ideologies.

Roll Call

Show of hands if you think the Syrian/Turkish situation (factoring in American involvement) is better off than it was a week ago.

Roll Call

Who believes there will be a single respondent give a straight answer?

Also, our troops didn't betray our brave fighting brothers, it was the man that commands them.

What's his name again?

I wish I could find the link again but there was a series of polls about removing our troops from Syria/Afghanistan and Dems were in favor of it in each one except when Trump's name was added..that tells you all you need to know about the Libs newfound chicken hawk status

So...they are incapable of being driven back to Iraq.

Got it.

Post from an acquaintance who allowed me to share on this forum:

"Nobody doubts the president’s authority to pull troops out of Syria or anywhere else.

But the ham handed manner this was done without considering past gains, unintended consequences, impacts on the Kurds, the degradation of America’s moral authority, the weakening of America’s alliances around the world, and the impact of releasing ISIS fighters to renew their fight and their terroristic activities makes me ashamed.

As an American and a veteran I am saddened and embarrassed for our country."

Hopefully we will learn our lesson about taking sides in holy wars that have been raging for 100s of years. Joseph Campbell was correct when he talked of people "misinterpreting metaphors for facts"

Did you write your congressman/ march or otherwise voice your displeasure against the war in 2003? Or were you in the "democracy flowering" camp. Many warned against Cheney's/ (Bush) actions and they were called unamerican by karl Rove's/roger ailes' minions
Absolutely..I remember writing John Duncan Jr supporting his stance when he was getting blasted for being against it

It was never our fight to begin with.

How hard is that for you people to understand? Kurdish independence is not justification for wasting American blood and treasure.

Because that is the only thing that matters at the end of the day to the average American. Who gives a damn about allies that are in the Middle East. How does that feed your kids here on Main Street?
Ultimately, I agree. Unfortunately, when you’ve already been meddling for several decades it isn’t cool to up and drop and ally.
