Syrian Kurds are close to declaring Independence

Lol at saying we wouldn’t invade Turkey but insisting that Turkey was going to attack our troops.

No, we wouldn’t invade Turkey. But we would definitely destroy every troop Turkey threw at us.

That would be a sticky situation right there, bombing a NATO ally's troops in support of a group they consider to be terrorists. Recipe for war IMO.

It was doing? Erdogan previously announce "we're going in" and I I miss it?

Getting our troops out of the way of the Turkish attack.
Oh, so it was working and we agreed to withdrawal before Turkey invaded. That makes it sound so much better? Just another cowardly act bowing to another dictator. And to beat it all, he is sending troops to SA to "prevent" Iran from invading SA. Don't you think the same principles apply?

I never said it was working, I said there is no evidence Turkey had previously planned to attack.

You know your foreign policy in the region is going great when you have the full support of Erdogan, Putin, and MBS.

I’m not sure whether this is a laughably hypocritical comment or simply a Trump supporters recruitment strategy.

GV isn't blindly supporting Trump. The smart play considering the players was to get our guys the hell out of the way, the chance Turkey was going to attack whether our troops was there or not was to great. And the US and Turkey going to war would play right into Putin's hands.

Please don't. I'm really enjoying watching them contradict themselves every other post.

Why would Iran invade South America? What have they done to Iran?

Did Trump negotiate to give up the Kurds or did the joint US Turkey border patrol fail?

Dig a little deeper into it because you are ignoring what all went on.

We wanted a 10 kilometer buffer, they wanted 40. All the information is there if you just go read.

So they got what they wanted and we pulled back. What was it we got again from the negotiations?

A war which Turkey was never going to start.
Uhhhh. Wut? They have been fighting those Kurds for a long time. They were working with Syria to eradicate them. Ras and Pacer were falling all over themselves to dubb every Kurd a terrorist.

The Kurds have always been the red headed step child over there. Going back to at least the Iraq Iran war. Probably even longer.

I am still torn about this. I dont know the right answer here. Crap situation that I hate we always get drug into.

You misunderstood. Obviously they wanted to attack the Kurds. That’s why they wanted us to leave.

A situation we never should have gotten involved in starting in 2011 and now we can hopefully extract ourselves from.

They walked away from the negotiations before they were concluded.

They claimed they were going to invade. Trump finally called their bluff (despite the slant Axios put on it).

He told them for two years it wasn't a good idea. Just like you tell a child not to grab that hot pan on the stove, eventually you just let them do it.

50% steel tariffs. Never let a good opportunity for protectionism go to waste, I guess.

"Wanted" isnt the right tense or even verb. "Has" attacked, "wants" to attack. "Were" attacking. Until we got involved. It's a mess, I dont like either option we have now.

It's a mess man. It was a mess before we got involved, it's become our mess since we got involved, and now it's a bigger mess that we are pulling out.

I really dont know a right answer. I really wish we had let them pull out of Iraq after ISIS and had their own state. So at least Kurds in other areas would have some safe place. But that creates its own issues, ala Israel. Minus the prominent noses.

Good for Trump. That is the correct response. First protect our troops, get them the hell out of the way. Then apply diplomatic pressure to affect the desired response.

The tariffs are justified as section 232 "national security" tariffs, by the way. Not that laws or words mean anything anymore.
