Syrian Kurds are close to declaring Independence

It's a mess man. It was a mess before we got involved, it's become our mess since we got involved, and now it's a bigger mess that we are pulling out.

I really dont know a right answer. I really wish we had let them pull out of Iraq after ISIS and had their own state. So at least Kurds in other areas would have some safe place. But that creates its own issues, ala Israel. Minus the prominent noses.
We had raised an entire generation under the umbrella of multiple ongoing armed conflicts abroad. It’s time to end all this and return our troops home. Enough have been asked of them and their families.

The tariffs are justified as section 232 "national security" tariffs, by the way. Not that laws or words mean anything anymore.
I could care less about the tariffs. Obviously that triggers you however. I’m glad he acted to secure the safety of our troops first and then is working to apply diplomatic pressure next. That’s the proper response.

Screech on about “muh Trump muh tariffs” though you be you.

I agree. "There but for the grace of God go I".

The struggle for me is that I am a loyal person and the Kurds are good people as far as I am concerned. I would rather be friends with them than ANYONE else in the ME. Including Israel. They arent choir boys by any stretch but they have been our friends.

I can respect that. However I feel our first responsibility lies in not squandering the lives of our military. If Trump believed they were going to attack, and we have every reason to take Erdogan at his ultimatum word, then protect our troops first. Our loyalty to them demands that. Then act to curb Turkey’s aggression next.

I hate the fact that we have treated the Kurds like red headed step children over the years, I hate the fact that Turkey is a member of NATO and yet I can't do diddly squat about either. IMO Erdogan put Trump in a no win situation and he took the most sensible road, the road that keeps us out of a potential war.

By the way, US/Turkey trade was $24 billion in 2017.

So where does this $100 billion figure come from? The same place he gets all the rest of his "facts" from.

The way I read it, that was the amount associated with the deal they were in the process of negotiating? Unknown is for what and how many years, so . . .

They walked away from the negotiations before they were concluded.

They claimed they were going to invade. Trump finally called their bluff (despite the slant Axios put on it).

He told them for two years it wasn't a good idea. Just like you tell a child not to grab that hot pan on the stove, eventually you just let them do it.
In what FU little world do you call pulling troops back as calling a bluff? Also it's pretty FU you calling it a bluff. You should have stayed retired with this level of idiocy.

You really just don't get it and I'm not sure how to explain it in any more simple terms.

Perhaps you're right. Maybe I should just leave for good.

The world that we live in where Trump called Erdogan’s bluff and pulled our troops back and bluff is the proper term to use if Erdogan made a threat without the intent of following thru with it. That world.

You keep your ass right where it is mister!

Also, there aren’t any simple terms capable of reducing content down to the level which mick can absorb. Not your fault!

I'm amazed that all of the "no war" leftists are suddenly all for war at any cost to "protect" the Kurds. You know what? I don't GAS about anyone from that part of the world. If all of them die I wouldn't feel one bit of remorse. So F all of the people in the middle east.
