You're clueless. If the man can bring in 5 * players at UNC, he sure as hell could bring in 5 * at UT.

BD is def a defensive coach. Butch has never run his offense. He has also recruited just as well as anyone in the ACC this year with the exception of The U, and maybe FSU, but they have the tradition. UNC had a football team as something to pass the time between b-ball seasons. Now they are legit. And what makes you think he couldn't pull 5*'s as UT? I think a big, dumb pumpkin could pull in great recruits at UT..... wait we have one that already does. :fool:

you said you saw boyd at the game. how tall did he look? I've heard anywhere from 5'11 to 6'2 does he have the frame to add weight?

true, but what i was going to is.....we need a guy who can recruit now, not later. i like petersons o, but i just think BD is the best canidate now. and if i was butch i wouldnt come. he has it perfect over a UNC

Boyd was at least 6'2" because I'm 6'4" and he was almost as tall as me. He definitely has the frame of a fball player.

well lets compare

UNC

1. basketball school- no immediate pressure to win. heck ppl there prolly didnt know what day college football was played on.

2. if he brings the school to become a great team, he is prized as a hero. if not ppl say UNC is just a bball school.

UT

1. immediate pressure to win. for any coach that comes in here its either win or die. football is king here(starting to fade) and if you dont win your coaching career is gone.

2. if he brings the school back, he still has to catch up with CUM, CMR, CNS, and CLM to become a upper level coach in this league.




which one would you take? if i was a coach i would love to come to tennessee, but i would also be scared too

This is ridiculous. Apparently I'm just posting for my own enjoyment here. Seriously, I'm not trying to be difficult, but the next person that posts something off topic in this thread is getting a vacation. I don't know what else I can do to get my point across about these player threads.

I'm not trying to squash discussion, I encourage it. Just start a new thread if it doesn't specifically have to do with Tajh Boyd.

If Boyd does end up here I would say that he has a great shot of at least seeing some playing time as a true freshman even if Stephens is the starter. Boyd would be that "Change of pace" guy. Purely speculation though, and it will depend on coaching situation at the end of the year.

Not making any comparisons between these players and boyd. But I could see a Leak/Tebow type roll or a Tyrell Pryor roll as a freshman.

He would clearly be the future of the program, and his physical abilities would need to see the field in unique situations as a freshman. Kind of ween him into it like they did Tebow. I think Stephens would be a good mentor for Boyd from a mental standpoint and that his consistency would permit using Boyd in short yardage/trick situations.

I was looking at Boyd's rival page as was a bit discouraged by his 4.7 40 time. FWIW Bryce Pretty's 40 is also a 4.7.

Scout lists him as 4.56. I'd bet he is in the 4.6 range. If you watch their videos you can tell Boyd is faster and a much better runner than Petty. Also, if you watch his videos Boyd is more of a passer than he is runner. The Dual Threat title is misleading.

4.56 is pretty fast for someone touching the ball every offensive play. Hell i run a 4.57 and im the fastest kid on my whole high school team. The kid moves plenty fast to at least be somewhat mobile at the QB position, but i dont really see him being a Pat White.

lol I have been saying that too lately with the way UT has been playing. but no, im 5'8 so im kind of undersized for college. Its not too bad for high school though. But yeah TB is probably a lot more threatening at 6'2 goin that fast. i really hope he can throw well too though.
