Tajh Boyd

Supposedly Kiffin contacted him and said he was going in a direction that wouldn't include Boyd and he should look elsewhere.

Here's the start of the Rivals article. Someone with a subscription needs to check it out.

Four-star Virginia quarterbacks Kevin Newsome and Tajh Boyd were both committed to schools during the spring and looked to be done with the process. But both find themselves uncommitted for different reasons. Rivals.com's Mike Farrell has the latest scoop on the two stars and much more in the Weekly Whispers.

Yeah, apparently he did decommit after Kiffin told him he would honor the offer but that he likely wouldn't fit in the system.

Are there some character issues we're not aware of? It's also possible that Kiffin thinks he can coach up one of our current QBs. Maybe he has one lined up for next year and he was being honest with Boyd about his intentions. Regardless, I think we'll survive...

We need to quit panicking about this situation. If kiffin does not think that boyd fits then he doesnt. It is better for him to be honest with him than to lie to him and have him come ride the bench all four years. We will be just fine thay will find a quarterback.

per rivals.
Barry Brunetti capped up a big junior campaign with a state championship last week, as Memphis University School beat Brentwood Academy 38-18. Brunetti racked up over 1,000 passing yards and 600 rushing yards in leading his team to a perfect 13-0 record. Along the way he accounted for 37 touchdowns, despite only playing three full games because his team was so dominant all season.

and boyd doesn't fit the style he wants to play?? boyd and this guy go hand in hand!! The only difference is that boyd wants to be in a pro-style offense and not use his feet as much unless needed where this kid is an obvious dual threat QB.. I just don't get this move at all, seems pretty stupid!!

The only reason I can think of is he has someone lined up. He has to. We can use Boyd next season even if he doesn't fit the system - he doesn't have to have his system fully in next year.

The Michigan QBs didn't exactly fit the system obviously - but you take what you can get the first few years... and we're running a pro style offense.. not some gimmicking WVU offense.

So this is official then HV...do you think Kiffin has a back-up recruit option? Nunes, Barkley, ect????

I would say it's a definite he has something planned. Maybe he looked at tape of Coleman and thought he was more than enough to suffice. In the SEC, you have to build a running game before you can truly have a passing game. Defense and running is probably where Kiffin started.

Maybe he's also just being ethical to the guy and hopes that other recruits get wind of it and will be swayed signing for a coach they can trust. Who knows... but I'm sure Kif knows what he's doing.

So, Kiffin is being straight up with these guys. He's bold and confident that either he can find someone else or that he can work with one of the guys we have. Ainge's turnaround (ignore this Ras) after the 2005 season says that it can be done. BJ also played well. Maybe Kiffin wants to use the schollie for another position or he's going after someone else.

If this is true and I totally trust HV, I like the aggressive and confident statement Kiffin is making.

I agree. I don't mind having a coach with ethics that will tell a kid straight up "This is how I'll use you" or "I'm sorry, I can't use you".

I personally think that Tee Martin fit the "Duel Threat" lable. Not that he had alot of plays designed for him to scramble, but he could make plays with his legs when we needed it. I think he fit well in a Pro-style offense.

Whether you like the hire or not, you have to admit this guy has some stones.
