Tajh Boyd

I've had a hard time all year long placing the entire blame for our pathetic offense on the QB. I'm a bit quicker to point at the O-line who totally underperformed. I also think playcalling must have been the worst in UT history, but there were so few plays called, nobody had a chance to criticize them enough.

The Zone Blocking Scheme.... The players never "got it", IMO.

The QB wasn't everything. There were certainly pieces from all positions that were missing in the failure that was the UT offense.

Honestly, I think Kiffin sees something in either Stephens or Coleman or both that he can build off of.

Again, I think the running game is (and should be) his top priority on Offense.

If he does come to UTK, what are the changes of him starting?

I dunno, but the chances of him being 'named the starter' before he's proven himself to Kiffin are nil.

Eric Berry is competing for a starting position. I don't see a long, drawn out competition for EB, but whoever lines up between the blocking dummies during the competition to show they are physical enough to play with them is likely headed for the CFB equivalent of 'injured reserve' status.

It could have been the scheme, but I can't blame the scheme for the short yardage failures. I might partially blame the strength coach for spending too much time on bench and not enough on squats.

This isn't about who is going to be the QB next year, it's about who is going to be the guy down the road. IMO we need to identify a guy like that in this class and it's not Bryce Petty.

this scares me boyd was a solid talent and you have to admit that most of you believed he was an upgrade over any qb we currently have..... if he doesnt have another guy lined up im going to have to say bad move.... because even if boyd didnt fit the system maybe he could have willed himself to at least be better than Crompton...

I don't know, but if I was Bryce I'd take a note from Boyd and not be asking the media to let Kiffin know he's expecting a call real soon. :)

IF (again, let's entertain this hypothetical situation) Kiffin likes what he's seen in Coleman's HS and limited CFB tapes, we'll have our QB for another 3 years barring injury or early draft entry.

Kiffin is almost the polar opposite of Clawson in the way he is thinking about the offense. He's not thinking, find and use whatever players in whatever system works best for them. Instead, he seems to be saying I know the system that I'll use well enough (see USC 2005 for a preview), now I'm going to find players who can execute it.

If I was a current UT player, I think I'd get busy with the 'buy-in' part.

Well sorry i'm not retired and i don't have FREE time to fill up. I also don't have time to sit on volnation all day and rack up 1000's of comments. So if your praising your self for having a lot of empty space in your day that needs to be filled with online forums and coaching your sons 6-8 yr old flag football team well than maybe you should get a life and quit advising me on mine!

It's simple. You made a very strong statement claiming to have better judgement on a football matter than the new HFC . I called you on it and you didn't like it. End of story.

Your are making assumptions about me that you know nothing about. If it's a bad thing to be retired at 44 then I'm guilty.

per rivals.
Barry Brunetti capped up a big junior campaign with a state championship last week, as Memphis University School beat Brentwood Academy 38-18. Brunetti racked up over 1,000 passing yards and 600 rushing yards in leading his team to a perfect 13-0 record. Along the way he accounted for 37 touchdowns, despite only playing three full games because his team was so dominant all season.

and boyd doesn't fit the style he wants to play?? boyd and this guy go hand in hand!! The only difference is that boyd wants to be in a pro-style offense and not use his feet as much unless needed where this kid is an obvious dual threat QB.. I just don't get this move at all, seems pretty stupid!!

where is my very strong statement at??

Do you guys think Crompton will transfer? If so, were do you think he will end up?

I don't think Crompton is out of the picture at this point, so why would he transfer?

If Kiffin tells him he's done, then I'd say Crompton will find another spot somewhere, but it won't be going to a coaching position early as Kiffin did.

I just do not understand how Boyd would not fit the system. It is not like he wants to pull it down and run it 20 times a game! and He is ranked in the top 3 in passing accuracy per rivals.

Kiffin actually has the ability to influence this class, Clawson didn't. However, Clawson's staff had a huge impact in building the class that Kiffin is currently out visiting...so not sure I get your point. :dunno:
