Tajh Boyd

well like i said, "seems stupid." Mainly referring to the part about one of his first visits going to a 2010 duel threat QB when we currently have a duel threat QB that is better that we are now letting go

Dual threat.

I'm simply saying that I don't believe Clawson was the culprit everyone makes him out to be. He worked with an awful set of facts.

I'm sure I rode Cutcliffe to some degree, but he had a respectable QB (albeit an injured and mildly scared one) and masked the OLine problems via scheme. Cut didn't have to deal with Crompton & Co. Otherwise, he would have run it 40 times per night.

I'm not overly interested in the past, but it frustrates me that a coach is getting crucified for doing what his bossing was telling him to do.

I don't want to be part of Clawson's lynch mob either. I think he's very bright, but just showed up in Knoxville at the wrong time.

However, with Cut, it's also worth noting his 'respectable' QB had a 2005 season that looked more like Crompton's 2008 season than any I can recall.

I don't think height is overrated at all. Almost all successful qbs are tall. You are always going to have the exception to the rule like brees who has a godly arm.

nobody is arguing that Cut couldn't coach a QB and build some confidence. He did wonders for Ainge with just scheme. We didn't do the same with Crompton, but I don't believe he is accurate enough to do it with. He would have thrown roughly 97 picks this season had he thrown all the 5 yard ins and outs that Ainge threw.

Good points.... That may be why Cut liked BJ.

Accuracy is only part of Crompton's problem. He doesn't like his first read and he runs without considering any other reads.

He is a redshirt Junior so he cant unless he got a waiver which I dont think any rs junior would risk
Or he could go DII. It's not like he's headed to the NFL or anything. I don't believe Arena League scouts would bother.

There is a reason Coleman wasn't the starter. Did you happen to see the terrible INT for TD he threw at Vanderbilt during his only significant playing time of the season?

That happens with redshirt freshmen sometimes. Everyone has boneheaded throws once in a while. Especially when they're new.

Boyd is not on Hubbs list anymore.

I have to believe with USC's QB coach Yogi Roth coming that Kiffin has already bagged Barkley. You wouldn't quit a job if you didn't have something else lined up would you?

Just got home and don't feel like reading 9 pages. Did Kiffin basically tell him that he wouldn't fit in our offense and pulled the offer or what?

I missed this. Is that old news?

You would if you were dumb and didn't have a plan. Especially in this economy.

So lets hope Kiffin knows how important our QB situation is and has a good plan if Boyd is officially gone.

You have to view this in this way kiffin has probably known he was coming back to college sense he
was fired by Oakland. He has been looking at potential
recruits sense that time.If his reputation as one of the best college recruiters is deserved, which it most likely is.This one can take away from it that he is most certainly on top of it.

If he told Boyd that he can't use him it is to our favor
in two ways 1)He most assuredly has one more suited
if not better qualified, committed.2)Honesty can only benefit future recruiting efforts.

Romo: 6'2
Warner: 6'2
Pennington: 6'3
Brees: 6'0
Garcia: 6'1
5 of the top 6 leaders in NFL passer rating are 6'3 or under. 6'3 isn't really massive compared with the 6'0 that Boyd is.

I don't think it's old. I assumed Reaves was filling that role. Maybe he's buying Low's speculation that he'll be here as receivers coach.

From what I've read I thought there was no chance whatsoever to get Barclay from USC.

Yet, I can't think of a better house-warming gift, if Caroll really wants to help Lane get comfortable in Knoxville.
