Tajh Boyd

Chris Low

Chris Low: I doubt any of the coaches on the current staff will be retained. I think a strong possibility will be former Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron. Maybe Florida receivers coach Billy Gonzales. And possibly a graduate assistant, Yogi Roth.

Romo: 6'2
Warner: 6'2
Pennington: 6'3
Brees: 6'0
Garcia: 6'1
5 of the top 6 leaders in NFL passer rating are 6'3 or under. 6'3 isn't really massive compared with the 6'0 that Boyd is.

If he really is 6'0. Like most high school to college, and then college to pro measurements, the players get shorter and slower at each level.

I played college bball and I am 6'7, but depending on the roster that year my height in the program ranged from 6'4 to 6'9. If his HS says he is 6'0 I would be willing to bet he is closer to 5'9 than 6''1. JMO

Even if he has someone else in mind why not still bring Boyd in. Competition is always a good thing.

Anyone know anything about the QB out of Memphis that just beat Brentwood Academy? I think his name is Barry Brunetti.

I am happy with the Kiffin hire, but I can't help feeling like this is a dumb decision on his part. You never really know how a player will develop until you give him some time, and telling one of our most prized recruits that we're going a different direction just doesn't seem smart. I mean, the kid wanted to come here, just let him come for God's sake

Why waste the kid's time if Kiffin thinks he won't fit in his system?

So you think coaches know the way that every single player will turn out? I do see the argument about being honest to recruits, but some might see it as saying "You might be committed to us, but we might not be committed to you"

I've seen coaches fired for not signing enough talent but never for signing to much. I hope he has someone we don't know about.

i heard kiffen told him he wasent the qb for his system, its right on the main page, from rivals, witch is the biggest load of BS it would be hard to find a good system qb when your pro reccord is 5-15.

wow, what grim news to hear. i hope Kiff watched all of our games, this year, before he sent Boyd packing. i didnt see anything in our qbs that would warrant that decision. good luck to Boyd and thanks for wanting to be a Vol.

That is why they call them scholarship offers. The offers went out from another coach. UT said it would honor the offers. The coach is just being honest. He wouldn't have extended it.

I can't see how you fault a coach who tells a player, who he knows is a good football player, that he just won't fit the system he plans to implement. That's showing respect for a player at the highest level imaginable. It's honest and rare, but that's exactly what players deserve.

While everybody else is blowing smoke, Kiffin is shooting straight. You have to trust that a coach who has recruited and coached several of the best players on the planet knows whether a player will fit his system or not.

Just checked Rivals and it shows Boyd no intrest now in UT. I would almost guess CLK has Matt Barkley ligned up. AT least I hope so.

He did the kid a favor. Its better than being recruited and riding the pine for 4 years.

There's a fine line between doing something honest and doing something stupid, especially in high-profile college football. He's been here 2 days and has told our top recruit to take a hike, needless to say a recruit who plays a position where we currently have zero SEC caliber players.

I see you've crossed it.

I'm still not convinced that either Coleman or "Malachi" could not handle the job provided they had the proper care and feeding. Look at John "Sarah jessica" Parker Wilson down at 'Bama. Would you say he is one of "the greats"? No, you wouldn't, yet they are undefeated, playing in the SEC championship game this weekend, and may upset Florida for a shot at the NC. Point is, on REALLY good teams you don't have to have a Peyton Manning, you just have to have somebody that can execute and not lose games. (Although I sure liked having Peyton!)
