so was crompton and hey how about Jimmy Clausen hows that working out for him being the #1 QB of '07. I am glad that he did'nt come to Tennessee. I have had enough Clausens for awhile. But don't get me wrong Rick was a better QB than Casey was.

What the hell does either of the Clausens have to do with Tajh Boyd being converted to a S or receiver? You're nutz, dude.

And Rick better than Casey? You are either clueless about the game of football or you haven't been watching it for more than 5 years.

Has anybody thought that maybe Boyd was told or offered that if he did come to Tennessee That he may or may not play QB. Look at G. Jones and Eric Berry both of those guys were high school QB's. And maybe Boyd thought of himself to much to be a team player. Let him go to the ACC

no. neither EB nor GJ were recruited to play QB. They quit considering schools that were recruiting them to play that position.

Casey Clausen is #2 in career passing yards for UT. You cannot honestly be comparing Rick Clausen to him.

Rick Clausen has never been the best QB on any team he has ever been on. I can't believe some of the crap we have to deal with on here.

Well we still have 58 days to land another one...looks like we will have another year of Crompton which would have most likely been the case anyway

Watching Vol football longer than you bud and trust me Rick was more calm under center than casey was. Like Nic stevens was.

I think we might be making a play for Newsome. Reaves was at Hargrave the other day checking them out. I don't think it was just for Walls. Newsome is bigger, stronger, and has a better arm than Boyd. Just a thought.

That's why Casey started for 4 years right(and set records)...and Rick was relegated to splitting time with Ainge. If Rick was as calm and cool as you say, shouldn't he have beaten Eric and Brent out for the position during their Freshman year, and Ainge again his Sophmore year. Instead he rode the bench and watch two Freshmen light it up, and then was relegated to splitting time with a struggling Ainge during his sophmore year.

You've been watching football longer than me, yet do not even know the proper spelling of one of this year's starting QB's?

Casey Clausen:

2nd in competed passes at UT all-time.

5th best season in passing yards for a UT quarterback.

2nd all-time in career passing yards.

But yeah, Nick Stephens and Rick Clausen are obviously superior quarterbacks.:whistling:

Familarize yourself with Oku and Askew. Maybe even Stokes. All are going to be legit :eek:k:

You are right about those 3 guys as long as we find a QB that can hand the ball off without fumbling and that can get the ball to our receivers. I figured Tajh Boyd would be that guy but sometimes people go different directions..Hopefully it will be the right one.

You are out of your mind.

You are the only person on the planet Earth that thinks Rick was better than Casey.

And how is Nick Stephens calm under pressure?

Guys, he obviously has taken his info from the fact that there is a screenshot of Rick Clausen on NCAA 09. If Casey was better they would have had him on there. In all seriousness, there is no way this person knows anything about football to actually believe that

It has nothing to do with it. Its just gum flapping.

Rick would have never seen a snap if Ainge hadn't messed up like crazy or if Schaffer hadn't got hurt. I liked Rick's decision making, but Casey, Ainge, or any other QB in UT history (besides this year :p ) is better than Rick Clausen. Rick couldn't hold Casey's jockstrap

I personally think Coleman or Stephens can be developed in to a pretty solid QB, if we get the proper staff to do this. I would not be surprised if one of them is the starter next year. I feel like they could be developed with what college experience they have faster than a kid straight out of high school, even if he is a 5 star. I could be wrong however. As far as Crompton goes, I think he is pretty much out of the question. I just don't think he has the right attitude or mentality.

Also, Vince Young cant pass? He had the highest passer rating in the country in 05 from the regular season. 3rd if you count the Big XII championship and BCS Championship.

He also had whats probably one of the best games ever in that championship game.

Yeah he can't pass, DUH do you think throwing side armed is gonna give you strength and accuracy when releasing the ball, I think NOT! Im not saying all black QB'S are bad decision makers, but most are. Thats why I think Kiffin tried to kind of talk Boyd out of it. In my opinion it was a good call.
