The fact the intelligence services were so off projection is a huge red flag here. If I'm president or top military brass I'm really concerned. This is the type of failure that could compromise any military action should the need arise.

More importantly confidence in assessments about domestic threats are a major concern. Time for self scouting our intelligence apparatus.

How do we know there was an intelligence failure? There was a congressman on television yesterday saying all the intel reports he received were predicting this.

There are also reports that some in the intelligence services warned Biden that this would happen and he ignored them and didn't properly plan for this. Top military brass also warned Biden. Biden either chose the wrong intelligence to believe or he lied in that infamous video a month ago where he said this wouldn't happen.

This was noted yesterday by some in congress on the intelligence committee. The intelligence failure is mostly spin.

The intelligence was not "off."

They knew the Afghan government/security forces was DOA as soon as we left. It was never even close to being a viable government at any point during the last 20 years. Afghanistan is an ungovernable (as we define it) territory.

Now, they might have thought it would have lasted a couple of months instead of instantly collapsing, but that isn't too far off.

What % do you think is Biden's culpability?
I think they should have evacuated a lot more ally Afghans. And they should have had a more orderly process to remove equipment and personnel.

But without a functioning Afghan government to take control (after 20 years), this was always going to be a @#%^show the last few days we were there, no matter how /when it happened.

I remember Biden saying it would take months. It took weeks. There is a severe disconnect here. Either Biden intentionally misinformed the public or he was misinformed.

I don't disagree that it's ungovernable. But this isn't what we were told would happen.

Do you think Trump would have handled this any different than the current admin.?
There is no way to handle it worse so yes we have to assume that Trump or Obama or Bush or whoever would have done a better job. Can't imagine any admin being less prepared. Biden is in scramble mode and sending more troops in just to get everyone evacuated safely. The 5000 al Qaeda and ISIS terrorists that were freed from the Kabul prisons were also not properly planned for. Now they pose the biggest threat worldwide. If Biden's handlers have him blame Trump in the address this afternoon it won't be taken well. People know Biden or more accurately his handlers are calling the shots and this is on him/them. Hope I chose the right pronouns?

BS

Unbelievable how quickly people forget the atrocities that the taliban carried out. She says they are welcoming but her most honest reporting came at the end when she says they told her to stand to the side because she is a woman. Soon women and children will be raped by the taliban as they were before. Soon the soccer fields will be closed and transformed into places of public execution as they were before. Trying to Spin the taliban as welcoming and friendly is beyond absurd.

Eight Dead in Kabul airport chaos: Evacuation flights halted after US soldiers Shoot Dead Two Armed Afghans while Three Are Run Over By Taxiing Jets and More Plunge to Their Deaths From Fuselage - as UN say Taliban have started 'targeted killings'

  • US troops are defending Kabul airport in Afghanistan from Taliban fighters who are fast encroaching
  • American troops killed two armed Afghan nationals on the airfield who had stormed to try to get on planes
  • Three fell to their deaths after climbing onto the fuselage of a CR-17 jet in the desperate hope of holding on as the plane took off
  • The bloodied bodies of another three Afghan nationals were left on the runway after the plane took off
At least eight people were killed at Kabul airport on Monday, including two who were shot dead by US troops, three who were run over by taxiing jets and three stowaways who fell from the engines of a US Air Force jet as it fled an airfield of thousands of desperate Afghan nationals hoping to escape.

The Taliban has taken control of Afghanistan and are going door to door in Kabul looking for enemies to kill after promising the international community they wouldn't breach hu
man rights because they wanted to be formally recognized.

At Hamid Karzai International Airport, there is a stampede of thousands of people - both stranded foreign nationals and Afghan civilians - who are desperately trying to escape.

The airport is the last place in the city that is being guarded by American troops, whose withdrawal from the region after 20 years has given way to the terror group to take over.

BS because it makes Biden look bad? At some point you have to admit that Biden or his handlers screwed this up in the worst possible way. Stop blaming Trump or anyone else. It's pathetic. Biden has been in charge for 7 months and this is a major disaster for him and his admin. Biden has made the world a very very dangerous place.
