Afghan Air Force Flees en masse: Uzbekistan SHOOTS DOWN one fighter plane and forces another FORTY SIX helicopters and planes to land carrying 600 Afghan soldiers

Uzbekistan said it shot down an Afghan fighter plane and forced the landing of 22 military planes and 24 military helicopters carrying nearly 600 Afghan troops that 'illegally' crossed its border at the weekend when the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

The 46 Afghan aircrafts carrying 585 troops were 'forcibly landed' at Termez aiport in southern Uzbekistan on Saturday and Sunday after they had fled the Taliban, the country's state prosecutor said.

Holy hell they are bugging out. Chicken **** bastards.

At least the Taliban won’t have those air assets.

Wow - terrible speech.

1. made an argument for getting out of Afghanistan - that had already been decided and not very controversial
2. placed all blame on Afghani leadership and forces - if he didn't see this coming he's an idiot
3. made no statement telling Taliban to stand down or warning of consequences if they harm any of our people or those we are protecting
4. took no questions
5. downplayed the situation we are seeing
6. made it about himself

those on the ground in Afghanistan got zero hope from this

Is there any speech he could have given that would have left you satiated? I didn't see the speech but #3 would be a good way to rope us back in.

I got libertarians in my ear saying this was a Ron/Rand Paul (Trump to a lesser extent) style speech on intervention and occupation.

Based on what I've heard from people who served in Afghanistan, it is quite possible he was misinformed. Generals were misinformed by their subordinates all the time during the war, but ultimately it is up to the decision-makers to discover if they are being misled or lied to.

IMO, "my subordinates lied to me" is not sufficient, even if said subordinates did straight up lie and mislead.

Subordinates do lie, but subordinates also tell generals and CEOs what they want to hear because a lot of people at the top don't handle the truth well at all. "Truth" from the top is all encompassing; TRUTH from the bottom is threatening and generally not welcome.

I agree with Biden’s speech (the decision to withdraw). However, he didn’t address the core issue, but instead addressed a straw man. Again, it’s not so much the withdrawal from Afghanistan itself but the way in which it was conducted. He was defending his decision to withdraw in the speech.

Sorry, but after 20 years #2 is 100% true. We can only hold their hand for so long.

#3 seems like an invitation to jump right back in and not smart.

It's the Afghans fault we left supplies and people over there?

Leaving and the Taliban taking over are just straw men to avoid what most people, here at least, have expressed issue with.

He called for a lid after all that hard work he put in huh?
Apparently the lefty solution to this issue is to just run away and ignore it.

I can't understand how some of these people go after Trump for "lack of leadership" but let a dude that runs (or waddles) away from responsibility slide.

Who is the 50+ year old surfer dude in the Pentagon press conference today? He looks totally out of place and prepared.

a couple A Bombs would be better - no need to waste nukes on these idiots with the Red Menace looking over Bidens shoulder

I doubt anyone would actually drop Nukes (at least full grade) due to radiation poisoning. It would be bombing as you suggested. It is just fun to say Nuke.

I talked about it earlier in this thread but we literally wouldn't use Nukes. There are far more effective WMDs that can achieve the results.

No, its the Afghan's fault this happened so quickly. Nobody had illusions they would fall back into Taliban hands eventually. But this fast causing this kind of response? That is on the Afghans. The president cut bait and left and we have pilots taking fighters across the border. Dudes just laying down and surrendering without any kind of fight. The majority of this absolute epic collapse falls squarely on the Afghans and their leadership. We left resources and equipment for them to use.

20 years. We did our part and then some.
