I believe most all have been critical of the "How", not the "Why". It seems like common sense to get all the non military folks out before the guys with guns leave. You can make any excuse and blame anyone you like, but the buck stops at the President.
That was exactly the question...Biden was in a bind because it's widely reported that the intelligence community warned him...so he just gave a speech on WHY he withdrew...just to give his talking heads something to trumpet..it was no accident that the 95% agree with me started trending during his speech along with Mr. President...they had the bots on overdrive

State Department calls for Taliban to include women in its government

Spokesman Ned Price says US Might Recognize Government that 'upholds rights' and 'doesn't harbor terrorists'

Despite the Taliban's long history of oppression of women and iron-fisted rule, U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price Monday urged Afghanistan's new leaders to form an inclusive government that had women in it.

Price said that the U.S. government would recognize a potential new government of Afghanistan so long as that government "upholds rights, doesn't harbor terrorists, and protects the rights of women and girls." He did not say how the Taliban could convince the U.S. government that it has reformed itself in this way.

I don't think there's been an answer of how many people we are trying to get out including contractors, missionaries, etc.

The only number i heard during the press conference was 22,000, however that only includes Afghani asylum seekers.

How many Afghan civilians will be killed now that the blood thirsty Taliban is in charge? The streets are gonna run red. This is an epic disaster and the Diapered Idiot is responsible.

First, this was going to happen no matter what. Power vacuums are often filled by the most ruthless and best armed. The Taliban has entered the chat.

Second, save your crocodile tears for the Afghan civilians for someone who believes you really g.a.s. They had 20 years to prepare for this moment and relied on the U.S. Government and it's tax payers to keep them safe and protected. That they knew this time was imminent and then got surprised the day arrived would be laughable if it weren't so sad.

I guess personal responsibility is only something you look for when it's politically expediant.

Democrats and mass migration activists are pleading with President Joe Biden to open the United States’ borders to a flood of Afghans.

As Afghanistan’s capital city of Kabul falls under Taliban control, House Democrats are urging Biden to admit as many Afghans to the U.S. as possible through the Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) program and the refugee resettlement program.

You could have found faults with any way. Give them a date for withdrawal, don’t give them a date, leave equipment don’t leave equipment, plan for the country to fall in a month, plan for a year. You will be wrong on some, right on some, get lucky, screw up.

Again, I contend this entire thread would have a markedly different tone had the political leaders been on the other side of the aisle. LG and his ilk would be throwing rocks all over the place had this been Trump. And let’s not forget too, Trump was the one that gave the Afghans the May ‘21 date.

Biden screwed this up. So would any other President too and nobody would have got it right.

There is a lot of this being portrayed as common sense and with the total picture in hand and various sources of information, not to mention 3 previous presidents worth of foreign policy to build off of…it is not so common.

BERLIN, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Germany may need to evacuate as many as 10,000 people from Afghanistan, Chancellor Angela Merkel told party colleagues on Monday, according to party sources.

That includes 2,500 Afghan support staff as well as human rights activists, lawyers and others whom the government sees being at risk if they remain in the country after the Taliban seized Kabul.

Germany could not evacuate 10 now. Just rhetoric. From my memory, even when they had troops deployed they never left base

What a joke! The Taliban don't care what the state department calls for. The Taliban are not party to the mental contracts a western person makes within their own minds (especially a lib). Taliban don't care if they are called racists, bigots and homophobes. They are not trying to be in NATO, G7 or attend the next fly-in to Davos. They do not require acceptance or approval among their own people much less someone from the outside. It would make just as much sense if the state department called on a basket of rattlesnakes to not bite. The rattlesnake is not a party to the mental exercise. They do what they do.
