That is melodramatic overreach, which comes across as a partisan hit job. No American presidency either begins or ends with anything pertaining to the inability of the Afghan people to govern themselves, or with the inability of the Afghan military to defend the freedoms of their people. Three other presidential administrations tried unsuccessfully to help them on their feet over the last 20 years... Republicans liked an "America First" approach to foreign policy while Trump was President. This is America first. Republicans are trying to seize an opportunity to exploit what they perceive to be a foreign policy crisis for the Biden administration, but that is disingenuous, because it's the same policy which the Trump administration employed in Syria and would have also done in Afghanistan, if Trump was still in office.
