The salary difference is because of inflation in LA which is huge. If UT offered close to the same money, UT's money is worth more because of cost of living.
Well ...duh ...from
Inflation in LA is not huge

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is less than 1% over the past 12 mo.
But! Cost of Living Index is another story and always has been.
Cost of Living Comparison: compare Knoxville, Tennessee to Los Angeles, California
A salary of
$100,000 in Knoxville, Tennessee should increase to
$159,202 in Los Angeles, California. I used $100,000 to get a direct % increase which is 59.2 % more to live in LA.
Tee's salary at KY was $205,000. Increase that by 59% ($120,950) and just to take a lateral salary move from KY to UCS they paid him about $326,000.
UT can not pay a position coach that much.
But the change is not because of inflation, it's the
cost of living differential, which exists between any two locations, anywhere.
I knew it was much higher, even back in the mid '70's engineers would turn down jobs in California with salaries that seemed outrageous.
Since USC is a private school, they can not be required to publish their coaches salaries. But you can bet that if the money had been right, Tee would have come to Tennessee.
All you howling 'but, but, but, it's TENNESSEE and he ain't got no loyalty!' ... that's just goofy:crazy: Stop embarrassing yourselves.
