Tennessee Buzz: Candidates To Watch - Kendall Rogers

My biggest concern would be how much of his success can be attributed to Balkich and the move to the Big 10 from the ACC? Assuming he didn't run guys off, his 2 most successful seasons would have been comprised of Jr's and Sr's recruited by Bakich. He's doing well at Michigan now and has the Clemson and Vandy ties so he's been around good baseball.

My biggest fear as well. I did look at the roster and stats and the contributors those years were the kids recruited by Balkich. No question which of the two I would chose...the man that actually did the work...Balkich.

I say throw the kitchen sink @ Mike Bell. We already have candidates that have publicly stated they are interested in the opportunity of being the HC of Tennessee baseball and if we get turned down by Mike Bell or a candidate with a equally resume we go after the best available. At the end of the day I am just a fan that is voicing my opinion so don't take it personal please.

Whew, boy! We're doing it wrong...good grief!

If that's accurate.

What the hell are we spending money on? We have the 2nd highest level of expenditures on baseball in the league and it's not even close. We spend $5m per year for sub .500 baseball? What a terrible ROI.

Well we obviously have the $ to spend as much as anyone else in the SEC. We should just throw the bank at the best possible candidate no matter what job he currently is employed

Breaking news: it's a good idea to look at the past when deciding whom to hire. FSU is a program that has gone to Omaha 21 times but only once with Bell and that was his first year. They have decreased in wins every year since as well. Pass!

I like the fact that we are hearing so little about this search.

Good for the new AD.

That is your opinion. Do you have a candidate that has been to Omaha more than Bell?

In his defense, Bell has been more that Calvi. Calvi was only at USC for the 2010 Omaha trip. Bell's been to at least 3 off the top of my head with 3 different teams.

Yea bell has been to three. He has a really good resume even though FSU is declining but Calvi has won as a head coach. I had forgetten he was just a recruiter for one year before being head coach at south Alabama.

If that job doesn't come open in the next few days it's not going to imo. Go get him

Time will tell but we are getting impatient. Alabama didn't even put the gun on safety. They pulled the trigger as soon as the bullet hit the chamber.

If we aren't going to go the assistant route, you don't want to have a hire yet. That would mean you hired a HC who didn't make the tournament.

Brian Green has been mentioned. He's not in a regional. I could get excited about him.
