Do people chose to be fat?
I have put on a hundred pounds since 2013. I am still missing skin on my left leg, so I have been prescribed a high protein diet to help regrow tissue. The wounds mean swimming is out of the equation. I need to have my left knee replaced because of severe damage to the joint; I cannot straighten my leg. I cannot have that procedure done until after my leg completely heals from the damage in 2013. Running, jogging, and distance walking are out because of the damage to the knee. I am now too heavy for bikes/ellipticals outside of therapy, which I can't get because it's still Covid times and I'm not post surgical and can't get a prescription for PT.
It's a bloody mess, it is. I hate being this big. I didn't choose the path that put me here. I'm working every day to get out, as much as my body lets me.
Like Covid deaths, you’re likely an outlier. The obesity problem in our country is far and away self-induced.I have put on a hundred pounds since 2013. High protein doesnt mean high fat/calorie. There are plenty of self weight exercises that dont require running, or any equipment that will keep you somewhat active. Not saying it gets you into hot girl summer mode, but it keeps the waste trim(mer).I have put on a hundred pounds since 2013. In many cases genetics are a big factor.
It's weird how the genes were repressed until relatively recently.
I've read a lot of WWII memoirs and it's funny how they talk about giving the "big man" the BAR and he's 5'10" 165lbs.So I was watching more WW2 in Color last night (love that old footage).
In last night’s episode, the Soviets had completely eradicated genetic obesity amongst the local German population that was wintering in Stalingrad. It was remarkable.
It’s generally true. Check this out:Not completely true.
Some of the old colour (film and photographs) looks weird. I've wondered how much of it was that way at the time, and how much of it comes from aging. So I was watching more WW2 in Color last night (love that old footage).
It's interesting that smoking is really the only one that we pass the costs along to (for those paying for insurance). Are you saying you think there should be a surcharge on those refusing the vaccine?
Smoking?
Overeating?
Stress?
Is this the 300 person survey? It’s generally true. Check this out:
AMA survey shows over 96% of doctors fully vaccinated against COVID-19
It's not weird, it's how society has turned on that particular vice. Alcohol does far more damage to society and health than tobacco ever could. But it's more socially accepted and gets a pass. Same with being overweight. The majority of people are overweight so we don't want to be singled out with higher premiums. Even though we're already subsidizing our country's fatness with our current premiums. Some of the old colour (film and photographs) looks weird. I've always found that curious myself. Some of the old colour (film and photographs) looks weird. I've wondered how much of it was that way at the time, and how much of it comes from aging.

This is part of it. But, at least for insurance premiums, it's easier to single out as a yes/no question. If you wanted to assess risk on alcohol, weigh, etc. it would be murkier (how much is bad?)It's not weird, it's how society has turned on that particular vice.
