Personally I don't think the OP was being racist. But I do think he could have did a better job of presenting the subject and siting his source. The "good ole boy" comment kinda opened him up for the thrashing that followed.
With that being said...I'm not sure how having 1 black coach on the staff can be viewed as a good thing. I'm not playing the race card either. I just think from a recruiting standpoint its important, also once the kids get on campus. You can laugh all you want, but a lack of diversity on the staff doesn't look good. You guys need to quit viewing it from your standpoint which just happens to be totally irrelevant as fans. What matters is how recruits and parents view things. I'm telling you, one black coach on staff gives bad vibes. Whether right or wrong.
Every other member of the SEC has four or more black coaches and we're down to one.
Butch has the good 'ole boy network going. I'd say there's a 99.9 percent chance the new running backs coach is black and should be for multiple reasons all of which are legit.
OP wasn't being racist. Where he went wrong, like someone else said, was with the "good old boy network" comment - which is to suggest that Butch only wants to surround himself with other white people.
