Tennessee Lady Vol News

Played through a lot tonight a nice dig at the Refs and crying coach.

LOL love the hiding players! Especially Emily trying to fit into that locker. KJH grudgingly giving the team the win on post game entrance this time. These are so fun, I wonder how they're going to keep elevating their post game game as the season goes on, coaches vs players in celebration? Hope we keep winning so we can see where this new tradition goes.

Also love Horston hoisting Jackson. Shades of Tyler back in the Meek days.

THIS is what has been missing for so long from our program. The fun!

Do you guys think we move up in the rankings with Maryland and SC losing this week? I think we move up to 6, maybe even 5.

Ma'am... get out of my head LOL.
i said the VERY same thing i said we should go to 6th, Ind 7th (up two spots) and MD 9/10th... leave a certain team at 11 we are not rewarding for not playing over here 😤

Neighbors apparently said Jordan Walker is sneaky good and I totally agree. I was surprised to see she is in the top ten in SEC in total assists and has a 2.0 a/t.o. ratio. More reason to love her.

As you might imagine, Jordan H has a nice number of assists but not near enough to offset a crazy, league leading amount of t.o.s.. Big area of improvement for her. Vandy's pg has almost as many, and Texas A&M pg looks very t.o. prone as well.

Jas Massengill looks really good on the stat board, 8th in league in total assists, only 13 t.os all year in over 31 mins a game! Gives her a ridiculous 3.8 a/t.o ratio. Good for her, I liked her. Still hope she has her worse game against us though.

When you look at the LV stats, Key's block numbers are insane. She has like 56, over ten times as many as anyone else. Dye has 6 and Horston and Walker have 5 each. BTW, more reason to love Jordan Walker. How does she have 5 blocks?

What if you had known that 14 games in, the LVs were shooting 42% fg, 28% 3pt, 60% ft, average 17 t.o.s and be without our best player? What would you think our record would be? I definitely called 13-1 all the way. Not.

Brooklynn Miles, Sara Puckett, Kaiya Wynn and Karoline Striplin.

I love out 4 freshman. At this point what team class is better than ours. I believe Sara Puckett will be one of the best players in Collage the next three years. Brooklynn Miles is becoming one of the best point guards and will only get better. Kaiya Wynn may have the most to learn to be a great collage player. Karoline Striplin is going to be a beast next year, she will get a lot of playing time the next three years. Justine Pissott will be a great player from day one. This team will still have Tamari Key, Jordan Horston, Emily Saunders, Marta Suárez, Tess Darby, Jessie Rennie, and hopeful Alexus Dye. Probably pick up a couple out of the portal. This year looks really good. I expect this team to make the elite eight. hoping for the final four next year. As always go lady Vol's.

Edit: I think this is Alexus Dyes last year but Jordan Walker could come back..
VA_VOLFAN you are correct.

I remember how Jaz played so well against us last season (2nd matchup) ppl on this board weren’t sure if it was the same Jaz that was at TN for 2 years😂😂

I am also thinking that Indiana might leapfrog us. The Louisville/SC #1 debate will be interesting to see.

Arizona is just lingering there which drives me nuts. They haven’t played since Dec 17th. They are 10-0 but have only played one ranked team. Louisville, who they beat by 2 points in OT in early November.

They will not play a ranked team until they play Stanford on January 30th. Having a really hard time figuring how they’re coming in at #4 with only one game against a ranked opponent.

I also maintain the teams on COVID pause should drop in the rankings equivalent to a loss.

Same for UConn haven't played and just cancelled another game. This is helping them get a lot of players healthy and closer to being ready to play. If they had played may have another loss possibly at Depaul.

The SEC network is running a commercial for women’s basketball that includes shots of kids from different teams and a few live action clips. One of the action clips is Boston backing down Key. Boston’s elbows are out and shoulder height. It looks like to me she hooks Key with that elbow as she turns to the basket. Yesterday there was a question of Key hooking with her elbow. It was determined Key did not.
For our many knowledgeable fans, is Boston committing a foul in that clip?
Off topic, it looks to the obviously non-partisan me like they do not show enough Lady Vols in the commercial!

Said the same how aren’t there any lady vol clips lol just Boston and key going at in the paint and Jordan shooting a jumper

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am sick to death of players getting called for fouls after the opponent hooks THEM while turning and pulling the innocent one across them — or even to the ground. The players getting called for the fouls are NOT the players causing the hookups, but if they just happen to end up getting pulled across the other player they are getting blamed. It’s infuriating!!!! Every. Darn. Time.

Another thing I’m sick of is officials calling “jump ball” within a nanosecond of two opposing players touching the ball at the same time. Grrrrr!!!! Most of the time the hustling defender is being denied easy steal opportunities, and it’s really hurting the game IMO.

Other pet peeves:
• the constant moving screens some teams get away with
• the excessive use of off arm that many players use to push defenders away from them during their dribble drives
• excessive “carrying” of the ball by many players.

There are others, but I need to get some work done. lol
