You don't say! Many of us who have seen practice have been saying this all along. Just because you don't see hard coaching does not mean it doesn't happen. It was encouraging to see Kellie during the timeouts and in the locker room, challenging the players to be tough and have heart. And also punishing them when they was making careless turnovers in practice, they just need to get it done in games.
That’s why u don’t see me criticize her, I always say I don’t know what goes on in practice, this at least gave me a glimpse of what’s going on.You don't say! Many of us who have seen practice have been saying this all along. Just because you don't see hard coaching does not mean it doesn't happen.
Her coaching has never been a problem with me and I assume most posters here. The big flaw is recruiting. You can be the best coach in the world and your not going to do much without great players. Not a coach anywhere that could do anymore with our roster than she does. If she ends up not being here it will be because of recruiting and no other reason. She brings the culture and type of personality you desire hopefully starting in 2025 the recruiting will finally happen. You don't say! This so much. It's amazing how many coaching flaws get skated by bc the team has elite players who compensate for them. When asked the key to her success, Pat unfailing listed first "get the best players". KJH has her coaching flaws for sure but they get microscoped by the inconsistent play and disappointing losses. Which happen bc she's short on truly versatile and elite players. Her coaching has never been a problem with me and I assume most posters here. The big flaw is recruiting. Very tough field. Fan vote feels hokie and not sure how heavily it’s weighed. But vote here

Jill is ranked kinda high
All-time great season 35.0+ Runaway MVP candidate 30.0–35.0 Strong MVP candidate 27.5–30.0 Weak MVP candidate 25.0–27.5 Definite All-Star 22.5–25.0 Borderline All-Star 20.0–22.5 Second offensive option 18.0–20.0 Third offensive option 16.5–18.0 Slightly above-average player 15.0–16.5 Rotation player 13.0–15.0 Non-rotation player 11.0–13.0 Fringe roster player 9.0–11.0 Player who won't stick in the league 0-9.0
Using this system here is here our players stack up

Using this system here is how our players stack up this season.
Rickea Jackson 24.5
Sarah Puckett 17.7
Jasmine Powell 16.3 was a little surprised by this but her early season games were not good.
Jewell Spear 18.4
Karoline Striplin 22
Kaiya Wynn 15.2
Tess Darby 10.3
Tamari Key 21.3
Jill Hollingshead 12.3
Accordingly we have one definite star Jackson. Two borderline stars Striplin and Key, Second offensive option Spear and third Puckett. Slighty above average player Powell still like I said she has upped her game tremendously in last 8 games. Jill and Tess qualify as non rotation players which they have to be in the rotation. Injured Wells comes in at 11.3, Strickland 1, and Edie 2.3
According to this our starting lineup should be:
Jackson
Spear
Key
Striplin
and it would have to be Powell as she is a point guard even if Sarah's rating is a little higher. Plus the last three to five game she has been a lot higher that almost anyone on the team.
Sixth Man Puckett
Seventh Wynn
Eighth Hollingshead
Ninth Darby
What was surprising was Powell's season rating. The way she is playing now should boost her season quickly. How high Karoline's rating was. How high Key's rating is in her limited play. That Sarah and Jewell were not a little higher. Just the last game versus Vandy alone Powell had a 27 and Jackson a 26,
Actually, Cora Hall wrote a good article in today’s Knox News in which KJH gave a bit of insight into the current LV’s recruiting philosophy. It was in response to a boosters question about concerns over bringing in high school recruits. Here is an excerpt:Her coaching has never been a problem with me and I assume most posters here. We want to sign high school recruits," Harper said. "What we did, we took an approach a couple of years ago, that we really pared down out high school recruiting. I mean, we narrowed that list really small because of the transfer portal. We found a lot of success bringing in some talented players in from the portal."
However, she didn’t minimize the need for high schools recruits and indicated they want to sign a strong 2025 class.
Yes, that’s correct. They swung at the stars and unfortunately didn’t land the commitments they were looking for. That is now complicated by NIL. Recruiting is changing and will probably see more teams reloading through the portal versus unproven high school talent.Cora asks the hard questions. We're lucky to have her.
What happened was they quit taking the middling players out of hs and tried to hold out for elites. Which is a decent philosophy, but you then have to land the elites. Which they just haven't done. Have come close, no cigar. Thank goodness for the success of the portal, but you can't live by portal alone.
They better sign a strong 2025 hs class.

Not surprised that Karoline Striplin has the second highest rating, behind only Rickea. Unfortunately though, Striplin is getting less minutes, I think because they want to have her available when Tamari needs a sub.

I saw this Tuesday in a restaurant with lots of tvs on sports so the sound was off. Let me tell you when they get to the Kentucky game they show a huddle and the locker room at halftime and even with no sound you can see Kellie is stripping the paint off the walls! Must see tv for those who think Kellie is not passionate and does to challenge her players! Yikees!!I missed this, will it be reshown?
You could see they did that were only going for like the top 50 top high school players. Sure they could've signed some lower ranked. I think that is a good way to go about it, but you do need success with at least two or three and I think that is where NIL should come in. You may have to be the highest bidder for the elite player you want.Actually, Cora Hall wrote a good article in today’s Knox News in which KJH gave a bit of insight into the current LV’s recruiting philosophy. Thanks for your and Travis929 statistical diligence. Where is Ole Miss and what would either outcome do for/to us?I went over the schedule as they were saying all our losses are Q1 and found that yes that is presently true as MTSU is 49 in the net making it a Q 1 loss as anything above fifty on a neutral court is Q1.
