Tennessee Lady Vol News

Indeed. Not many, but a few. The undefeated 98 Meek team had Alabama, who was really good and who always played them fairly close when no one else could get within shouting distance.

Seeing the Vandy gym yesterday reminded me of the most exciting game I've ever seen. The 98s almost lost it all there in the regional final against Sylvia Hatchell's No Carolina squad. The late rally to come back and win that was electric and I'll never forget the govenor of TN jumping up and down on his chair during that.
That North Carolina game...I was a way too emotionally invested high school idolizer of Catchings and that game is one of the most memorable ones that I've watched in my whole life...brought me to tears 😂😂😂

I grew up in Nashville, have lots of family there, and took kids, nieces, sisters, Mom, etc to that game. I remember all of us being so exhausted after the game we couldn't even drive home. Crashed at a Wendy's there in the West End to regain composure.

Those prized freshmen, Catch, Randall, Tree Geter, and Ace Clement along w Holdsclaw led that comeback. Made it all the more special.

UT moved up to 37 in the NET, SOS #3. Projected to finish with the #1 SOS. 4 and 9 in Q1 games with next 3 games to end the regular season all Q1 opportunities. Also no Q2 losses. UT has to be safely in now. Also 25 in the RPI. MTSU is 38th in the NET. I wish we could play them again.
Agreed we're safely in now. I would think our ability to actually move up a few seed lines depends on getting a top 25 NET win and/or a few more top 50 wins, since the committee apparently doesn't look at quadrant records. Right now we have 0 top 25 wins (could change if Oklahoma gets up there - they're currently #27) and only 2 top 50 wins. Beating TAMU would give us a 3rd top 50 win and of course beating LSU and/or South Carolina would finally get us a top 25 win. The SEC tournament should also bring opportunities for top 25/top 50 wins, too.

Last season we got to host with 3 top 25 wins (Colorado, Ole Miss, and LSU) and 7 top 50 wins. We'd have to basically win out, including the SEC tournament, to get to those kind of numbers this year.

We had a week off before the Ole Miss game, too, but the team we have now is much better than the team we had then.
Wish we were playing them Tuesday. These girls don't need but 48 hours to get back to full strength. Such a thing as getting in a rhythm like beating Arkansas by 26, losing by 11 to the most talented team in the country, and then winning by 25 all in one week. A week off may get the shooting rhythms off and stall the great defense we played three straight games. Maybe not, but like you say the week off before we played Ole Miss looked like we forgot everything we learned letting them score 80 and they are not that good offensively.

Winning big is what the NCAA loves thank you Lady Vols. The win over Vanderbilt yesterday vaulted us up to 37 in the NET. That is a five point jump for just one game. We should be a 9 seed now and beating LSU and Texas A&M could push that as high as 6 or 7. You win the SEC Tourney and you may be hosting again. I know all that isn't going to happen more than likely, but feeling safer and safer about an NCAA berth and continuing to be the only team to ever make them all.

Yeah, we’re definitely on a roll right now, but part of it is because they believe more in themselves and what they can do, so they should be able to carry that confidence to next Sunday. Defense, and some of the plays on Offense yesterday were really outstanding.

I loved Semeka Randall!!
I remember Pat getting a call from Semeka after she had committed but before she was on campus asking if she could always pressure the ball all the way up the court! What a motor!! She was ferocious.

Boo is head coach at Winthrop U now. She was as much a live wire as Catch was quiet and shy. I remember Pat saying in her book that when Semeka pouted, you could feel it all up and down the bench. Energizer bunny on the court. Had some epic games vs UConn.

Agree. Seems more mental than physical, and really went on all last week. I think it will carry over and we can use the leg rest. No running out of gas physically late in the LSU game. Meanwhile LSU has two games, including tonight in College Station. Here's to triple overtime!

In jail for the party I'll throw.

Who do we want to win tonight? LSU or Texas A&M. LSU winning is better for our chance for a higher conference finish cause it would give us a chance to beat them at home and have the tiebreaker and a one game lead. A&M is better for the NCAA bid as it sends them on down the ladder and we can finish them off with a win at home.

My natural instinct is to be against LSU. But mostly I just want it to be physical, fast paced, and go into 4 overtimes. Then I want LSU to have a safe but long trip home.

I believe she got the name Boo after all the boos she got from the UConn fans when she bounced Svetlana Abrosamovas head on the XL Centers floor. That's what is called a rivalry.
