Tennessee Lady Vols Volleyball 2023

What's up with our girls? Down 2-0 and look like they would rather be anywhere other than Columbia.

This is just an absolutely devastating loss for the postseason. The last thing the selection committee sees is going on the road and getting swept by one of the worst teams in the league and the last thing on your team's mind is the loss. This team could go to the Elite 8, or get knocked out next weekend. Get ready for the ride. I HATE SC in every sport.

Welcome to the woodshed! Ouch!
Wanted to let you all know of a programming change for the NCAA volleyball selection show. The show is being moved from ESPNU to regular ESPN on Sunday at 6pm. The Lady Vols' loss should not affect their hosting the first and second rounds but will probably cost them the number 8 national seed. I don't know if the Regional sites are pre-determined or if they go to the top 8 seeds. If anyone knows please enlighten us.

The 1st and 2nd rounds are hosted by the top 4 seeds in each region. The sweet 16 and elite 8 sites will be determined after the first 2 rounds, likely be the highest seed left in each region

Number 3 Regional seed is probably right considering the humiliation in Columbia on Saturday. If we survive the first 2 rounds, could face defending NC Texas in Regional Semis.

The Lady Vols may as well get used to playing Texas as they will be playing them regularly in the SEC starting next season. And volleyball does not rotate teams out as does the softball and football schedules - they will play them every season, including Oklahoma.

What? Why would you not rotate teams on schedules in a 16-team conference? Makes zero sense.

The SEC didn't rotate teams in volleyball in a 14-team conference. I don't expect them to do it in a 16-team conference either. And by the way, Vanderbilt doesn't play volleyball or softball so it's really just a 15-team conference next season in volleyball. The Lady Vols only play 8 SEC teams in softball but they play each one 3 times. We'll see if they up that to 9 teams in 2025. The softball team still just plays 8 SEC teams in 2024 and Texas and Oklahoma don't join in softball until the 2025 season, thank goodness.

Yep. If the goal is to get out of the first weekend (which has been stated by the team) then we are poised to do that with our bracket) but that matchup against Texas in Austin in a potential S16 is brutal, in comparison to being 8-seeded (like KY) and having a favorable path to the elite 8, where they will eventually get #1 Nebraska. That loss yesterday was bad, but you got to beat a lot of good teams to get to the top in the post season. Maybe they will use the loss as a motivating factor.
