Tennessee QB Harrison Bailey enters NCAA transfer portal

I’ll say he felt like he did his time and showed he was capable and I agree with him on that because he definitely did.

Remind yourself that these players practice together and see much more than we see on Saturday. Then take yourself back to the heavy lean to one new player. Then put yourself in his shoes and ask yourself how you would’ve handled it. He’s gotta grow up and I think he did quite a bit due to this incident. It’s just too little too late for UT.

Publicly called out the Milton favoritism, sounds like.

I'm sure Heupel didn't like that challenge to his authority. He's a nice guy so behind the scenes he will help Brian move on, yet his fate was sealed after that. Sometimes you say things that other people can hear and then you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Like I’ve said many times before. Brian is a phenomenal talent but talent alone won’t get him where he wants to go. He’s gotta mature. And through maturity he’ll actually play better. We all had to mature at some point ourselves and spoke out of line. Anyone critical of that is to be a hypocrite. He knows what he did wrong and he’s owning it.

He’s gone from UT so tell us you what you are hinting about. Either give us details or stop bringing it up.

Sounds to me like Brian and other Qb's saw the same thing with Milton. Anyone not named Hooker is gone. So won't be an issue going forward. Wish them the best elsewhere and finish the year out. Bailey and Maurer both have talent. Brian needs maturity and Bailey needs to get somewhere he fits. It is really that simple.

I am still trying to understand how a new coach with 4 new QBs is supposed to do anything other than start with the one who does best in practice. If he cannot handle the game situations, then move on.

As to who “really” was best in practice, I will just have to defer to all the guys on this thread who were there.

Tape.

Tape of what? Maurer in Pruitt’s sorry offense from 2 years ago? Maybe it shows Maurer has moxie, but hardly a decisive factor for Heupel.
It tells you all kinds of things. 1) who performs when the lights come on 2) how they react under pressure 3) how the team “follows” each qb naturally 4) how they handle adversity 5) if they’re a game manager or difference maker

As a new coach you can learn more from tape than you can from practices in your first year because there are so many practice warriors and so few gamers. Until they start giving points for practice reports, tape can your best friend as new head coach at an unfamiliar program.

Lol! Most of us do not care what you post anymore then. Why don’t you try and retire gracefully if that is possible.
Take your fly by night BS somewhere else. You’ll turn on Hooker the moment he has a bad game or two. History has a way of repeating itself.

I watched Hendon live, Maurer and Bailey on TV, and Milton on a compilation tape of all his games that someone posted. Frankly, all of them had tape showing why they were at most second string.

All four were going to require significant development to build on their strengths, correct their deficiencies, and teach them what was expected in a new offense. So, practice performance, mastering the offense, leadership with the current team, and perseverance were always going to be more decisive than tape from a past regime, IMO.

As I see it, Hendon kept working, learning, stayed positive and persevered.

Maybe there was some grand conspiracy to keep certain guys down, but (1) why? and (2) how can people who were not at practice know this?

I think Bailey is actually a good pickup for a whole host of SEC and ACC schools. He essentially has an entire career left in front of him and he did get some experience in two different systems so he has a leg up on most incoming recruits.....

Obviously Ole Miss is in the tank for Arch Manning but if he doesn't wind up there to continue the family legacy, Kiffin will need a backup plan. Bailey wouldn't be a bad one to get just for the sake Kiffin can work with different style QB's no issues. I do think Clemson is going to shake things up given the bust that DJ has been..... He is the sole reason they are a 3 loss team right now.... Any decent QB and they are 1 loss at most.

True. Ole miss will usually have a good enough backfield if Kiffin needs to tailor to a more pro style QB. And on most days a good enough O-line to protect one. Clemson could probably make the adjustment as well. Except in the games I've watched them (not a "fan" but like watching them), seems a noticeable portion of DJ's issues stem form a weaker than normal O-Line for Clemson. Not real sure who they have behind DJ and how serviceable.

He prob winds up at Ole Miss just because it seems we cannever be shed of the intertwining of UT with Lane Kiffin.

I really hope he doesn't go play for Kiffin. Maurer either. You guys thinking they don't have talent are crazy. Kiffing would know exactly what to do with both QB's. They would both do well and likely very well.

Just to be clear I think HB has a ton of talent....Wish it could work out at UT but the writing has been on the wall

He’s shown nothing that he’s an elite HC.

I wish you Kiffin fan boys would stop spreading this false narrative like every QB should play for Kiffin.

Not at the same time. And what if he lands someone better than either? Been known to happen. 😉
