Tennessee to pursue Antonio Barton

If he can handle the ball and pose a reasonable threat from the arc, I don't see how he wouldn't fit in extremely well. We will have plenty of driving and inside threats.

Again....

Antonio Barton is a Shooting Guard. At best, he could be referred to as a shoot-first Combo Guard. While he came up listed as a PG, the only place I can recall him recently being referred to as a PG is in articles from the various towns/colleges trying to recruit him in the last month.

I do, however, think the 'ups' will outweigh the 'downs' if he signs with UTK. Just watched the YT video; he was running the floor and distributing pretty well (as well as popping 3's). He just might surprise and be just what the doctor ordered for the Vols.

Antonio, may the force be with you....you're gonna need it!
Yeah I agree about Barton...not the answer to the point guard question with the Vols...We have the shooting guard thing down...its the point we need...

I take Antonio Barton over any 2 star or JUCO reach PG, hands down. Barton has played PG, is quicker than Golden, and can shoot the 3. With his experience, it is a no brainer if he wants to come. One year commitment.

I've actually been told that there's a really good chance of landing Barton. That said, I think the leader should be considered Maryland, personally.

I attend the University of Tennessee, am a senior.

I am a football fan

I became a basketball fan the year before I came here

I want the basketball team to do well.

Trae was a great player.

I think the team has tons of potential next year.

I either want, A. Thompson is awesome or B. somebody is coming in.

I love the University of Tennessee more than people know, and I want us to succeed in every aspect.

With that said, Go Vols!!!!

VV - you might want to go back and regroup. AB trying to find the best venue to improve himself is EXACTLY what he should do for his child.

Guess you were so overcome by the "Memphis hate" thing that you lost your perspective.

For purposes of this issue, I care very little whether Barton was at Memphis or Minnesota or Xavier, though I think Memphis was a perfectly suitable program for him to showcase his pro potential, if that's the only thing he's about.

There's more to being a father than simply mailing your offspring a check.

I agree there was little chance before this fiasco. However, his reasoning for leaving Memphis was PT, where he was getting almost 20mpg. He's looking for a place that offers immediate PT, and probably the most of it...of all the schools on his list Tennessee has to be the easiest path to becoming a starting PG and getting 30mpg.

I've heard that if he would just switch to 'high-octane,' then his mpg would improve... :good!:

I would have to agree there is a really good chance of UT landing Barton no doubt, but like you said Maryland is in this hard also.

With your posts on another subject (Trae Golden asked to leave), why would anyone believe anything you post?

Having been born a Terp and a damn Yankee of 44 years I'd prefer TN 200% over the concrete jungles of Md.

When you summarize like that, can't argue.

Point in his favor, he has NCAAT experience; for your PG, that's huge. Scored 15 or so against AZ as a rookie in 2011 tourney.

Columbia is a dump

I don't know what it's like to live there, but it's hard to beat the value and quality of places like Hudson's Smokehouse, Little Pigs, and Palmetto Pig. When I drive from Jax to Knoxville for a game, I try to time it so that I can eat in Columbia.

Well, I have been to College Park and that is the best looking campus I have ever seen.

But I have also been to DC twice and passed through Baltimore, and those places are dumps.

Ive heard some stuff saying Tennessee was in touch with him more than a week ago saying this was a possibility.

He's getting set to visit Maryland iirc, if he makes it out uncommitted and sets a visit to Tennessee I will feel good.
