Tennessee Transfer Portal Targets

Thoroughly vet Arterio Morris. If he doesn’t have a history with multiple incidents (and with a conviction), then CRB can add him with a zero tolerance arrangement and regular counseling. Second chances are reasonable. A pattern is not.

What about AJ Johnson the 5* PG that just decommited

Pros: Not a woman beater 😊

Edit: oof nvm

I think I'd still take the PG if I knew it was someone with Tylor Perry's ability. Perry provides ball-handling and an additional outside shooting threat.

Knecht or Ledlum would be more of a luxury, and in your hypothetical, Julian Phillips returning could potentially replicate Knecht on the wing as you'd like to think he would be more of an offensive threat with another offseason to get stronger and more confident taking the ball to the hole, and Awaka continuing to develop could neutralize any contribution from Ledlum in the post. I think his offensive game was far more advanced than anyone realized. I see no reason he can't be a 8-10 ppg option in the post with increased minutes (say 25 mpg). He needs to become a better defender, though.
I get that, and don’t necessarily disagree, I can see still adding the guard and have said as much…I just think it’s not as much a slam dunk glaring need as maybe it previously appeared to be if what I said is accurate.

I'm on record as saying we need another PG even if ZZ had never been injured, so I'm gonna stick to my guns on that one. Dilione is more effective at the 2G position even if I have confidence in him playing the point. I feel more confident in him on the floor with another ball-handling guard (ZZ or Perry), along with Vescovi. I think that provides a lot of flexibility. Chandler, ZZ, Vescovi together was a really solid lineup two years ago. I'd like an ability to replicate that without having to rely on Dilione at point. I'd rather have his ability to play there, if needed, as a luxury, not a necessity.

Perry is a rare bird. He’s a must take if you can get him.

Maybe Edwards should say while ZZ gets back in shape it's my time to lead this team and get to work that would help with PG situation

SBNation:
A consensus five-star prospect ranked as the No. 16 player nationally and the No. 1 point guard in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Morris represented a significant recruiting coup for former head coach Chris Beard and the Longhorns. Morris chose Texas over Arkansas, Kansas, Memphis, and others.

Morris was arrested for misdemeanor assault after a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, an incident that threatened to derail his Texas career before it started, but Beard declined to comment on the arrest and never suspended Morris, whose trial was postponed last month.

In a deep and experienced guard corps, Morris played sparingly as a freshman, averaging 11.8 minutes per game and struggling with his shot selection at times, but also flashing the ability on both ends of the court that made him such a highly-regarded prospect. Morris finished the season averaging 4.6 points per game on 41.1-percent shooting, including 33.3 percent from three.

With the departures of Marcus Carr and Sir’Jabari Rice, as well as the entrance of Tyrese Hunter into the 2023 NBA Draft while maintaining his eligibility, Morris was expected to play a much larger role in 2023-24 for new head coach Rodney Terry.

I’d take Perry over Knecht/Ledlum, I think everyone would, but I’m not taking any of the other PGs that have been talked about as real possibilities so far over those two. I’d not want to lower our talent level just because of positional needs when we’d have a lot of guards who can handle the ball to an extent, even if not true PGs (in this scenario where Scov returns and everybody stays)

All the PG’s I’ve mentioned would help us next year ;) hehe

Question who are the posters that I should reply to if I have a serious question about the topic of discussion

Yeah, I almost immediately edited my post to include this same caveat. I wouldn't take Ques Glover over either Knecht or Ledlum just because he plays PG. It has to be someone like Perry (that same level player at PG).

IIRC, he started the year coming off the bench playing limited minutes? Maybe that was just precautionary?
He came off the bench basically all season until postseason play started. Bradley had been starting all season until then. Probably a reason Bradley decided to leave, outside of whatever behind the scenes stuff took place there.

With our massive offensive stagnation issues, we need anyone who' has proven they can penetrate/shoot the three/make free throws/distribute/handle the ball vs pressure. Right now, ZZ fills 4 of those 5, if, and pretty big if, he's healthy all season. That's not easy when he's coming off an injury and had games this year where he's playing almost every minute. Everyone else on the roster are either complete unknowns or do 2/5 of those things, 3/5 if they happen to be having a good night.
