Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

I wasn't saying that. Their game's and size are similar, both can jump out of the gym and have elite athleticism. Wideman could be an elite defensive player, too, imo. Wideman is no where near the player Keon is right now, but Malachi was still a high 4 star player that could have played basketball at almost any P5 conference school that he wanted to play for, if he concentrated only on basketball.
Low 4*

He would have constantly dog cussed them till they hated playing for him. Don’t think he would have ever fielded top teams and would have had large defections. ONeal was far and away the biggest jerk coach I can remember at UT
He actually was very supportive of his players. Doesn’t mean he didnt push them to be the best, but he was close to the guys he coached.

I know this about O'Neal. When the SEC tourney was played in Memphis and he was our coach a few friends and I went to the practice. My daughter was only about 9 years old and went with me. The disgusting language (I mean it was like a pornographic movie) he used and reverberated throughout the Pyramid was UNBELIEVEABLE. Now clearly I knew he had a serious addiction to profanity but this was so over the top that even my friends with me got up and left. I would NEVER expose my child to that and I guessed i thought he would show some level of control because there were a quite few people there. It felt like we had been verbally abused and assaulted and we were sitting in the stands. I lost all respect for him as a man that day. Good coach. But no doubt he had an addiction!!

I attended his basketball camp As a kid and the language used by KO and staff would make a sailor blush. KO had a wealth of knowledge for the game though.

I have no idea how he is today but several years ago I did see an interview were he admitted he had a serious problem with profanity and anger (those usually go hand in hand) and he was working really hard to improve. He talked about how negatively it had effected his career. I have no clue if he’s improved at being a respectful man or not. I sure hope so!!

Three-star De’Ante Green released a top six in late February, and then went on to lead his Asheville Christian team to a state championship.

Green’s recruitment is down to NC State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Tennessee.

Tennessee: “I visited Tennessee a while back and their facilities were great. I really like coach (Rick) Barnes and what he is doing over there.”

“People have asked about the 2021 or 2022 thing, but I am staying in 2022. I don’t think I am going to cut my list anymore but right now I am wanting to hold off on making a final decision until they open up visits. I want to see these schools and get a feel for them,” Green said. “I will be looking for a school that tags me in as family, seeing who builds that relationship the best and a program who lets me play like me and won’t try to change me.”

That last sentence is a red flag to me. Don’t come to UT if you don’t want to develop your game past your current level
I believe that may be took out of context. Don’t think he’s saying he doesn’t want to improve, but that he doesn’t want to change his style of play.

Your probably right, but the College game is very different from high school. Doubt there’s any 3* recruit good enough to succeed at a P5 program playing the same as they were in HS. JMO
